A yet to be identified Premier League and International player indicted for rape in 2022 has had his bail extended.
That basically indicates that this unnamed footballer could commence the upcoming Premier League season with his fate hanging in the balance, according to The Telegraph.
The Premier League player was apprehended on the 4th of July, 2022 following complaints made about him.
Following many extensions, the Premier League player indicted for rape has had the date for his bail pushed to August.
Reports also suggest that Metropolitan Police have also confirmed the bail that was recently extended.
The next Premier League season will commence on Friday, the 11th of August 2023.
In a prior statement sent out, the Met said: “On 4 July, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police.
The alleged rape includent was reported to have occurred in June 2022.
They stated: “It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022.
“On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody.
“While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s.”
Additionally, they expressed that no “further action will be taken” in relation to the offense in June 2021.
However, investigation into the other offenses will still continue to progress.
They wrote: “No further action will be taken in relation to the offense in June 2021 but the investigation into the remaining offenses is ongoing.”

The Telegraph revealed that they have contacted the club where the player currently plys his trade and they are aware that the player is “being questioned”.
However, the unnamed player continued to strut his stuff for the entirety of the 2022/23 season after he was apprehended on the 2nd of July, 2022.
Based on what we gathered, MPs and campaigners have also wondered if the internationally known footballer should have been given a leeway to continue playing games for his club.
It was stated that following several bail extensions, the footballer was expected to show up at a station early this month before it was moved to August.
In the past years, there has been several cases of rape with football stars linked heavily to many.
Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy is still in the course of an ongoing trial which hasn’t gotten a definitive end.
An unnamed former Everton player who has been out of action for over a year has also been roped with rape allegations.

This worrying trend definitely needs to be nipped in the bud and culprits punished. Either the footballers should be punished if found guilty or if the players are also falsely accused in some cases, their accusers should be severely punished.
