Emergency operatives rushed to the aid of a Premier League footballer diagnosed with an addiction to laughing gas, in the midst of despairing concerns over the health of the top-tier football star.
Reports indicate that a close friend of the footballer raised the alarm after sighting him surrounded by canisters of illegal nitrous oxide at his flat in the city center.
It is believed that the player, whose name has not been revealed, had fallen off the wagon after visiting rehab to try and sort out his habit.
Paramedics Rush To Save Premier League Footballer Addicted To Laughing Gas
Paramedics quickly got to the scene, and conducted checks on the footballer alongside delivering a severe warning to him, apparently expressing fiercely that he should desist from the act.
It is understood that the top-flight star had made several attempts to fight off an addiction that has put both his health and his career at risk.
Police were also present but are not thought to have launched any criminal proceedings.
The player’s club are aware of the situation, and they have been offering extensive support for some time.
The Premier League side were also involved in the decision to send him to a specialist rehabilitation centre during the course of the 2023/24 season.
The call to emergency services was put through to emergency services in April 2024, and it is thought that the player’s worried family were bothered that he had suffered a relapse.
Fears were confirmed when a friend sighted him inside the flat with a substantial number of bottles close at hand.
The player understands the mess he is in, and he has made conscious efforts to see that it becomes a thing of the past sooner rather than later.
Laughing Gas
Nitrous oxide, also known as “hippy crack”, is contained in canisters, which can be super-sized.
The canisters are then used to fill balloons which are inhaled to offer a quick “high”.
Usage entails several risks including heart attack, strokes and brain damage, and there have over the years been fatalities amongst those who make use of it.
In November 2023, the law was altered to make nitrous oxide a controlled Class C Drug.
Possession for inhalation is now seen as a criminal offense, but a conviction may be unlikely unless it appears as though there is a desire by culpable individuals to dish it out to others.
Super-sized canisters being made in recent years can offer about 80 times the usual portion, while canisters can be acquired online and are considerably cheap.
Intended buyers can get it as long as they confirm they are over 18 and it is to be used for food production.
There are worries that its usage is prevalent among Premier League footballers with regular drug tests unlikely to detect its existence.
Kyle Walker was pictured inhaling it in 2013, while Chelsea star Raheem Sterling was lambasted by Brendan Rodgers for using it.
Then Arsenal quartet of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Matteo Guendouzi, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil, were also filmed taking it at a pre-season event in 2018.
In 2019, Jack Grealish was captured inhaling from a balloon, while Everton’s Dele Alli was seen encircled by gas canisters and alcohol.
