Mohamed Salah’s strike against Chelsea on Sunday, October 20, 2024, saw him earn a spot in the top 10 list of the Premier League all-time top scorers.

The Egyptian forward opened the scoring against his former side after converting a spot kick in the 29th minute.

Nicolas Jackson equalized for Chelsea shortly after the half-time break, but Curtis Jones put the hosts back in the lead almost immediately, courtesy of Salah’s assist.

Salah’s goal brought his tally in the league to five goals for the current campaign and 162 overall, putting him into the top ten ranking ahead of Michael Owen and level with Jermaine Defoe in the 9th position.

The Egyptian will now be eyeing a spot on the top five before the end of this current campaign, and not many will put it past him to earn himself a place there.

Alan Shearer leads list of Premier League all-time top scorers with 260 goals

Undoubtedly the best No. 9 the Premier League has ever seen, the Newcastle legend holds the record for the most Premier League goals ever. He scored an astonishing 260 goals during his playing days.

Shearer spent 14 years in the Premier League. He had spells with Blackburn and Newcastle during that period, scoring 112 and 148 goals for both teams, respectively, in 441 appearances altogether.

He also has three Premier League golden boots to show for his exploits in the league and was crowned England champion with Blackburn back in 1994-95.

Harry Kane- 213 goals

Harry Kane is second in the Premier League all-time top scorers’ list. Regarded as one of the greatest forwards of his generation and one of the finest England has ever produced, Kane wrapped up his Premier League career just below Alan Shearer on the all time rankings with 213 goals.

The England international spent 13 years with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League before making the switch to the Bundesliga, joining Bayern Munich. His 213 goals in the Premier League came in just 330 games, boasting one of the best goal ratios in the League history.

While Kane never won any collective silverware during his stay in England, he has a plethora of individual honors, which includes three Golden Boots.

Wayne Rooney – 208 goals

Arguably the greatest player to grace the Premier League, Wayne Rooney racked up 208 goals during his playing days in the Premier League.

He burst into the scene as a young prodigy at Everton. Manchester United snapped him up shortly after, and he spent the greater part of his time with the Premier League giants before returning to Everton to end his career.

The Manchester United legend spent 16 years in the Premier League and played 491 games during that period, scoring 185 and 23 goals for Manchester United and Everton, respectively.

Andrew Cole – 187 goals

Andrew Cole comes next on the Premier League all-time top scorers list. The Englishman scored 187 goals.

He had spells across a variety of clubs, which included Newcastle, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth, and Sunderland. 

However, his career peaked at Manchester United. He spent a total of 17 seasons in the Premier League, made 414 appearances, and scored 187 goals.

Sergio Aguero – 184 goals

The Manchester City legend also makes the list and is the highest non-English goalscorer in Premier League history with 184 goals.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time, he played for only Manchester City in the Premier League and is the club’s all-time top scorer.

Aguero spent ten years at the club, made 275 Premier League appearances, and scored 184 goals. The Argentine is credited as being the catalyst for Manchester City’s newfound success and is considered the best forward the club ever had.

Frank Lampard – 177 goals

Frank Lampard is sixth on the Premier League all-time top scorers chart. He is the highest scoring midfielder in Premier League history. Lampard ended up just outside the top five in the top scorers ranking, scoring 177 goals during his playing days in the league.

He played for West Ham, Chelsea, and Manchester City but is more recognized for his performances at Chelsea. Lampard totalled 609 Premier League games and scored 177 goals.

Thierry Henry – 175 goals

Widely regarded as the best player to grace the Premier League, Thierry Henry is seventh on the Premier League all-time top scorers chart. He was a force to be reckoned with during his playing days and is considered one of the greatest players of all time.

The Frenchman featured for only Arsenal and is the club’s all-time top scorer. He played 254 Premier League games in eight seasons with the Gunners, scoring 175 goals in that period.

Robbie Fowler – 163 goals

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is another name on the list. The former England international played 379 games in the Premier League across spells with Liverpool, Manchester City, Leeds, and Blackburn Rovers, scoring 164 goals.

He was known for his performances with Liverpool, where he scored 183 goals, and is highly revered as one of the best the club ever had.

Jermaine Defoe – 162 goals

Jermaine Defoe is one of the most underrated forwards in the Premier League. He played 496 Premier League games across spells with Tottenham, West Ham, Sunderland, Portsmouth, and Bournemouth and scored 162 goals during.

He holds the Premier League record for the most goals scored as a substitute, with 24, and was regarded as one of the deadliest forwards in the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah is ninth on the Premier League all-time top scorers list. He is the latest name on the ranking and the only player in the top ten actively playing in the Premier League.

Following an unsuccessful Premier League stint with Chelsea, Salah took the Premier League by storm three years later after joining Liverpool. He has earned the reputation as one of the best forwards in Premier League history and one of the best players in the world during his stay at the club. The Egyptian forward has made 271 appearances in the League for Chelsea and Liverpool together, scoring 162 goals.
