Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally rejoined his teammates to train ahead of Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture. The 31-year-old Gabonese striker has been out of the team’s set up since he scored two goals in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United on January 18.

Initially, the club’s coach, Mikel Arteta revealed that Aubameyang was missing in action because he had personal issues to settle. After Arteta’s statement concerning the striker’s absence from the team, speculations started making the rounds suggesting different reasons why the player was sidelined.

Hence, after missing out on Arsenal’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Southampton on January 23, and Arsenal’s league match against Southampton on January 26, the Gabon international issued a statement to reveal that he has been out of football because he was taking care of his sick mother.

In the statement, Aubameyang revealed that he was on his way back to London, the base of Arsenal, ahead of the club’s league match against Manchester United played on January 30.

Even though the 31-year-old striker got to London about two nights before the game, he was not allowed to train with his Arsenal teammates based on the coronavirus protocol preventing players from leaving their club’s bubble.
