Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will leave the club at the end of next season.
The 54-year-old has hewn out an unprecedented and remarkable managerial career in the English top-flight since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2016.
In his eight seasons as Manchester City manager, he has won a record six Premier League titles with four of the England Championships won consecutively in the last four years – an unprecedented feat in the English top-flight.
Guardiola hinted on his Manchester City future after he led the club to their 4th consecutive Premier League title, revealing he will continue as Manchester City manager next season.
He, however, added he will return to the negotiation table with the club’s hierarchy before the beginning of the next campaign to thrash out his future at the club.
Now, according to a report shared by Daily Mail, the two-time treble-winner is reportedly set to leave the reins at the dugout at Etihad after the end of next season.
The report adds Manchester City hierarchy are aware Pep Guardiola will not continue as the club’s manager after next season and have begun working behind the scenes on his succession plan.
In the event of the exit of the Spaniard, as reported, Futballnews understands Michel Sanchez, the manager of Girona – a club with the same ownership as Man City – is a top candidate to helm affairs in the City dugout.
Pep Guardiola has a year left on his Manchester City contract after he signed a two-year extension in 2022.
After next season, the Spaniard will come full cycle as one of the longest-serving managers at Etihad with an overdecorated nine-year spell.
