Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola says he will not sign any player during the January transfer window because he has enough players to execute all the club’s engagements.

The Spanish tactician who stated this on Friday ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League match against Burnley described his current collection of players as a “fantastic team”.

Manchester City will be in action at the Etihad Stadium against Burnley by 16:00 today, November 28. Pep Guardiola must lead his “fantastic team” to victory because Manchester City is currently occupying the 14th spot with just 12 points.

Despite how fantastic Guardiola said his team is, his players have not been fantastic enough as they have successfully lost 2 games, drawn 3, and won 3 in 8 league games. Though they have played one game lesser than most of the teams ahead of them, City needs to win over Burnley today to return to contention for the league title.

For those who think City is struggling because of a lack of players to execute games, Pep Guardiola has declared that he would not even spend as little as £106 million he spent on the two players – Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake, he signed during the 2020 summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola has won two Premier League titles for Manchester City in his first three years at the club. And now, the priority of Manchester City’s board is to win the UEFA Champions League title which Guardiola has failed to win for the club in four years.

Despite his failure in Europe, the club still extended his contract for two more years and the Spanish coach believes that he does not need to add new players to the club before he could accomplish his target.

Pep Guardiola’s pronouncement that he would not sign any player in the January transfer window further affirmed that the club will not go for the embattled FC Barcelona football icon, Lionel Messi. Before now, the City’s coach who won treble for the Premier League club during the 2018-2019 season, urged Messi to remain at Barcelona until the Argentine football icon retires from football.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has bragged ahead of City’s Premier League match against Burnley that his star striker Sergio Aguero’s return will add to the efficiency of his team going forward.

The club’s record goal-scorer has been battling with knee, muscle, and fitness issues but he is now available and Guardiola might throw him in against Burnley tonight.

“Sergio puts everything to be at best condition but he was a long time injured,” said Guardiola.

“He is 32 and needs time. He will train well, get minutes, and week by week will be better.

“We try and avoid the muscle injury he got when he came out.

“We will give him training sessions he needs in his specific schedule – we have seven months remaining, a lot of games to play and of course we need him… “In fact, he will be back better than ever!”
