Pep Guardiola has stated that his time as manager of Manchester City “won’t be complete,” without winning the Champions League.

Man City has been the club to beat in England for the bulk of the last ten years, but Pep Guardiola has received criticism because they are yet to win a European championship.

The 51-year-old player joined the Citizens in the summer of 2016, and since then, he has had an incredibly successful and trophy-rich time at the Etihad Stadium, earning a total of 11 titles.

The Spanish coach said that his legacy will be judged by City’s performance in Europe’s top competition. Man City has only advanced to the final once, suffering a semi-final loss and three quarter-final exits.

With Manchester City, Pep Guardiola won four Premier League championships in addition to the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Despite Chelsea’s victory in the 2021 Champions League final, he is yet to bring Champions League success, but he is still motivated to do so before he leaves the club.

In the 2020/21 season, Pep Guardiola’s team, the Citizens, came within one goal of winning the Champions League, but Chelsea defeated them 1-0 in the final game.

“My tenure here won’t be complete if we don’t win the champions league, I admit that’s the prize we want”, Pep Guardiola stated.

“I extended for other reasons as well, though. I’ll give the club everything I’ve got. We’ll attempt to get the trophy, which we lack.

“We’ve tried in the past, so I have a hunch they’ll understand it sooner or later.” We’ll give it our best shot.

“It’s hard for me to say no to the club. I can’t even begin to convey how grateful I am to this club. Guardiola explained.”

Pep Guardiola extended his contract with Man City during the World Cup, keeping him in control of the team through the summer of 2025, putting him on track to do so.

Pep Guardiola has expressed his gratitude once more to the club’s hierarchy and said that it was challenging for him to decline a new contract due to its impact throughout his tenure at the club.

The opening leg of Man City’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig will be played on February 22, 2023, in Germany. Over two legs, Guardiola and his team will be the overwhelming favorites and will be sure that they can advance to the quarterfinals.

Following a contentious meeting in the Premier League in October 2022 at Anfield, where chanting from the away end and coins being thrown toward Guardiola sparked controversy, fans from both sides have demanded any infractions be recorded.

To cool up a toxic rivalry, Pep Guardiola urged supporters to “be supportive of the team wholeheartedly.” This came after both teams had vowed to prohibit poor behavior in stadiums.

After Argentina’s World Cup victory, Guardiola anticipates Julian Alvarez won’t be available for the holiday season even though his players are gradually returning to training.
