Guardiola And Boston Celtics Head Coach Joe Mazzulla
Meanwhile, during the PUMA block party, which is part of Manchester City’s promotional activities this summer, Guardiola was also questioned on his relationship with Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla.
The City boss was present at the 2024 NBA playoff finals and he was spotted watching the game between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks.
Mazzulla had in February also visited Manchester to discuss with Pep Guardiola, with the pair holding talks and sharing tactical nuggets.
Joe Mazzulla, whose Boston Celtics went on to win the 2024 NBA Championship, was in North Carolina to see Manchester City’s opening friendly on Tuesday night with the pair catching up in Chapel Hill.
The Cityzens lost to Celtic 4-3 in their first preseason fixture this summer, with the team also having AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea to play before battling Manchester United in the Community Shield, the curtain raiser for the 2024/25 season.
Pep Guardiola Shares Insight Into Conversation With Mazzulla
Speaking regarding the NBA finals, Guardiola expressed that he discussed tactics with Joe Mazzulla ahead of the Boston Celtics win over the Dallas Mavericks.
He said: “We were privileged because a few days before the final it was nice to listen to the game plan.
“We were talking about to control things. It was really nice. There are similarities between the games. It’s the highest competition: the NBA finals are the best of every player. It was really cool to be there and listen.
“[Coaching] is easy, they are human beings – treat them normally. They have skills, play well, the rest they are normal. We’re together for 11 months, more than our family and friends.”
Pep Guardiola was also seen in a viral clip shared by Manchester City playing basketball and he heartily scored on three different occasions out of three attempts.
Pep Guardiola and his wife were also among the special guests present in London to watch the Wimbledon tennis match between Cameron Norrie and Alexander Zverev on July 6, 2024.
