Pep Guardiola dedicates Community Shield final to Micheal Ballack’s late son Emilio Ballack

The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has dedicated the Community Shield final between his club and Leicester City to Emilio Ballack, the late son of Chelsea’s legend, Micheal Ballack.

Emilio Ballack died on Thursday in a quad bike crash. The bike crash on the teenager and died on the spot in Troia, south of Lisbon, Portugal.

During the post-match press conference ahead of the Community Shield which is scheduled to kick off today, August 7, 2021, at 17:15, Pep Guardiola said he would ensure that his team plays very well in honor of the late teenager.

Pep Guardiola said on Friday: “I am going to play the final of the Community Shield tomorrow thinking about the son of Michael Ballack, Emilio Ballack. He was a friend of my family, we met in Munich.

“An exceptional 18-year-old boy, incredibly well educated and unfortunately he had a terrible accident in Portugal.”

The manager of Manchester City will go into the Community Shield clash with Leicester City without Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden who are battling to be fit ahead of the 2021-2022 season.

The club’s coach said Phil Foden is battling an injury while the club’s talisman, De Bruyne is yet to recover from a damaged ankle ligament. He sustained the injury while on international duty with Belgium in Euro 2020.

Also, Foden sustained his foot injury during Euro 2020. He could not feature in Euro 2020 final between England and Italy on July 11, 2021, due to an injury.

It is possible that the two players might not play in the first few games at the start of the 2021-2022 Premier League season.

Jack Grealish would not play in the Community Shield final

The new signing of Manchester City, Jack Grealish would not feature in the Community Shield final between his new club and Leicester City later today.

Grealish joined Manchester City earlier this month from Aston Villa for a transfer fee worth £100 million. During the pre-match press conference ahead of the Community Shield final, coach Guardiola said the 25-year-old English versatile football star is not ready for the game.

“He [Grealish] is not ready to start at all, he was one-week training alone but he’ll travel with us tomorrow, to settle with the team, for meetings, and he will be on the bench and we’ll see what happens”, Guardiola said.

“After we’ll see what happens but from the beginning, no way.”
