    The coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has tested positive for coronavirus and is currently self-isolating ahead of the club’s FA Cup third-round game against lower league side Swindon Town.

    Based on the development, Guardiola would not be in charge of the Manchester City FA Cup game against Swindon Town on Friday, January 7. The game will kick off at 21:00.

    Pep Guardiola and his assistant, Juanma Lillo tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, two days after beating Arsenal 1-2 in a Premier League game that took place on January 1, 2022.

    In the absence of the 50-year-old Spanish tactician, assistant coach Rodolfo Borrell will lead Manchester City to Swindon Town.

    Apart from coach Pep Guardiola and assistant coach Lillo, Manchester City have confirmed that 19 other members of the club are self-isolating due to the virus.

    Seven first-team players and 14 backroom staff are among those who are currently self-isolating at Manchester City.

    All things being equal, Pep Guardiola is expected to fully heal before the Premier League game between Manchester City and Chelsea on January 15. The league game is expected to take place at the Etihad Stadium, the home ground of Manchester City.

    In the same vein, another Premier League club, Burnley have confirmed that the club’s manager, Sean Dyche has tested positive for coronavirus. Hence, the coach would not be available for the FA Cup home game against Huddersfield on Saturday.

    “Burnley Football Club can confirm manager Sean Dyche will miss this weekend’s FA Cup third round tie at home to Huddersfield Town, after testing positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Sean will now follow the mandatory self-isolation protocols”, a statement from the club read.

    Meanwhile, football authorities in the United Kingdom have fined Arsenal £20,000 for failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves properly during a Premier League game against Manchester City on new year’s day.

    Recall that Arsenal’s defender Gabriel had to be shown two yellow cards within two minutes before referee Stuart Attwell decided to show him the red card.

    Before the FA slammed Arsenal with the fine, the Premier League side had accepted that the club failed to coordinate their players properly during the Premier League game which ended 2-1 in favor of Manchester City.
