Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Benjamin Mendy after he was finally cleared of all rape charges brought against him by eight different women.

The embattled former Manchester City defender stepped out of the Cheshire Crown Court wiping off tears from his face – an emotion perfectly understood after a career-ending allegations of sexual assault, attempted rape and rape.

The French footballer stood for three hours on the slippy edges of fate as the jury deliberated on the case and finally handed out the ‘no guilty’ verdict.

Benjamin Mendy was reportedly happy after the Jury cleared him of all charges but outside the Chester Crown Court, Mendy wipe away tears.

He was immediately serenaded by reporters who grilled him with a number of questions but the Manchester City defender had only one word for them, ‘Al Hamdullilah.’ – meaning praise be to God.

Mendy made his way from the court premises but was followed by the journalists who grilled him with a number of questions but he remained mute and never say a word again.

It is understood Benjamin Mendy’s silence was indeed a loud cry about his mangled career, time away from his fans and teammates, and remaining behind bars to watch his career take a wild tumble.

However, his temporary glum wearing face gave way to a smiling and happy Mendy when his French national team pal and Juventus star Paul Pogba facetimed and congratulated him on his court victory.

Posting a screenshot of the conversation with Mendy on his Instagram page, Paul Pogba said he is happy for Mendy but will want all who stained his name to be brought to justice and also hopes he return to his game soon.

“Al Hamdullilah. So happy for you bro .. all the people that was talking bad about you now I wanna see them cleaning your name. Can’t wait to see on the pitch again,” he wrote.

Reacting to Paul Pogba’s call, Benjamin Mendy gave it a big grin while Pogba also smiled and raised his right hand to celebrate Mendy.

The reason for the happy moment shared by the two footballers are not far-fetched. Pogba and Mendy are national team pals. They played together in the 2018 World Cup in Russia and won the tournament.

Dutch forward Memphis Depay reacted to Benjamin Mendy’s court victory with a thought-provoking statement which spark reactions among other football stars.

‘Who is going to help this brother heal? Who’s going to be responsible for the damage on his name? How is he going to have his career back? Many years of investment to become a professional football player…. Now what!?

‘I’ve never touched on this subject because I didn’t know all the details, but I’ve spoken to him once through FaceTime while behind bars and faced him on the pitch a couple times. I didn’t see any evil in the man. We can’t accept this to happen to us as athletes..

‘Who’s going to stand up for us in the time of need not when the damage is already done? Don’t turn your head away people..! Who’s f***ing defending us athletes? Where are the big corporations at when we need them?

What is next for Benjamin Mendy?

Benjamin Mendy made his last professional appearance in August 2021. He has run out of his Manchester City contract and is now a free agent. Mendy’s next move is still unclear but it is believed he will likely return to his career.
