Tottenham Hotspur are eying Pau Torres and are willing to make a move for him this summer. Torres is one of the names who has been linked with a move to the Premier League alongside Arnaut Danjuma who has recently been named as a replacement for Sadio Mane should he leave Liverpool this summer.
Pau Torres has been in a stellar form for the Yellow Submarines this season in Unai Emery’s team. In the previous football campaign, Pau Torres managed to find the back of the net six times as well as assisting once despite playing as a central defender.
The 25-year-old Spain international has also been pretty solid at the back. He has averaged 3.1 tackles, and 0.6 interceptions in every league match for Villareal in the previous season.
He was also instrumental in their impressive run in the Champions League where they eventually crashed out in the semifinals of the competition after they were beaten by Liverpool.
Futballnews gathered that the young central defender was set to join Tottenham Hotspur last season but rejected the move to spend another season with Villarreal.
His defensive capabilities might be a perfect fit for Antonio Conte’s team as Tottenham are said to be in the market for a left-footed defender. Other targets such as Alessandro Bastoni have also been linked with a move to White Hart Lane, but with his agent recently confirming that Bastoni is willing to remain with Inter Milan, Tottenham might just be forced to make a move for him this summer.
He has received praises from different individuals due to his impressive performances over the past few years.
Recently, he spoke to a media outlet (AS) where he said “Right now there is nothing at all, there is talk of many things like every year.
“I have peace of mind of being where they want me, at the club of my life and I have this offer right now that I value as very positive.
“There is nothing right now, the only thing I have is the offer from Villarreal, so I am very calm.”
Tottenham are exploring the option of including a player in the deal for Pau Torres.
