Patrice Evra rates Marcus Rashford highly after he reached a milestone in his football career by scoring his 100th Manchester United goal.
The former Manchester United star, Evra believes Rashford will establish himself as one of the greatest players in the world after scoring his 100th club career goal last weekend.
The 25-year-old England International forward, Marcus Rashford bagged his 100th goal for Manchester United against West Ham United on Sunday, October 30 and Evra lauded his achievement, stating Rashford has the potential of becoming one of the best players in the world.
The Manchester United and French national team retired footballer, in his own right, has explained how Rashford’s 100-goal landmark can be the kickstart of a greater level in the Englishman’s career.
In his interview section for Betfair, Evra said: “I’m not surprised he’s scored 100 goals for the club.
“He’s going to be one of the best players in the world, for sure. But you have to give him time.
He added: “There’s been a lot of frustration around him because we know what he’s capable of.
“When we think back to when he started under Louis van Gaal, you could see the passion there, and the way he would celebrate with his friends.
“Later, we had a Rashford who looked preoccupied, and as soon as you do that and make one mistake, people kill you and say you’re a bad player.”
Can Rashford really be one of the greatest footballers?
Since attaining stardom as United’s teenage player, Rashford has endured several ups and downs moments, especially in more recent years.
He did not live up to expectations last campaign, joining the league of some other Red Devils’ players who fell below standards set by United fans.
In all 32 appearances across all competitions he featured in last season, Rashford only scored five goals, while assisting two.
Meanwhile, the football star suffered injury simultaneously with a sustained decline in form that led to doubts over his ability and future at Old Trafford, but Rashford appeared to have bounced back this season.
The 25-year-old England national team forward seems to have revived his form under United’s new boss, Erik ten Hag, having bagged seven goals and three assists from 15 matches played so far.
A century of goals for the Red Devils is undoubtedly a charming achievement for Rashford; joining 22 other players to reach the landmark in Manchester United football history.
During the Euros, he didn’t play so well, so he’s unlikely to be the first choice in Southgate’s England squad list at the World Cup.
Rashford’s 100th goal is certainly a reward for his brilliant form this season, but he still has lots of work to do to register his name in the list of best footballers the world recognizes.
He has to keep playing superbly in the remaining games before the 2022 Qatar World Cup begins on the 20th of November if he wishes to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England team.
What’s Next?
Rashford is expected to be seen in action when Manchester United travel to take on Real Sociedad in their Europa League clash on Thursday, November 3rd.
