French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain have joined in the pursuit of Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski amid Barcelona transfer rumors.
The Polish striker who has just one year left on his contract with Bayern Munich has already said that he wants to leave the club. According to Lewandowski, something has died in him and he can’t continue being a Bayern Munich player.
However, Barcelona have always been in contact with Lewandowski’s agent for a possible move to Camp Nou. Barça are looking to improve their attacking unit for next season and Lewandowski is their top target. But because of the current economic issues in Barcelona, the transfer has been delayed.
The 33-year-old forward could be tempted to move to Paris if Barcelona can’t complete the deal. Chelsea are also interested in Lewandowski but he’s interested in joining Barcelona.
The recent admiration from Paris Saint-Germain means both Chelsea and Barcelona need to act fast if they want to win the signature of the 33-year-old Polish captain.
PSG recently announced that Kylian Mbappe has extended his contract until 2025 after he nearly joined Real Madrid. The announcement came as a surprise and disappointment to many Real Madrid fans.
Keeping Mbappe means their fantastic trio of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe will continue next season. But the Ligue 1 champions are not satisfied and they are ready to get Lewandowski as they keep looking for their first Champions League title.
Reports in France claimed that Lewandowski is now a top target for PSG and their new sporting director, Luis Campos has spoken with Lewandowski’s agents.
They look to complete the deal before the next transfer window closes. However, a journalist from Paris revealed that PSG hasn’t taken further actions apart from chats.
The journalist also added that Lewandowski is more interested in joining Barcelona and doesn’t consider PSG as his next destination. Other sources said that Lewandowski has agreed to sign for Barcelona for a three-year deal worth €12 million per year.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker is known as a goal machine even at the age of 33, he keeps scoring goals week in and week out. Lewandowski finished the 2021/22 season with 50 goals in all competitions and looks set to join Barcelona.
But Bayern Munich haven’t responded to Barcelona or any other team which have shown interest in Lewandowski. This is also one of the reasons why the transfer is yet to be completed.
According to the Bayern Munich board, Lewandowski still has a year left on his contract and they want him to complete it before leaving.
Bayern Munich are also in the market to sign Liverpool striker, Sadio Mane. The Senegal player is prepared to leave Liverpool and Germany seems to be his next destination.
