Barcelona winger, Ousmane Dembele recently returned to action after suffering recurring injuries that had left him out of the team in recent time. But this is not stopping Manchester United from wanting him at Old Trafford.
This could be because he just 23 and he still has years of football ahead of him. Barcelona is yet to get value for the 130m Euros it paid to get him from Borrusia Dortmund.
But that is not stopping Manchester United from making him a transfer priority at least on a loan deal during next transfer.
Barca coach, Ronald Koeman is already short of players after selling Luis Suarez and other players top players in order to ease the budget of the club that is owing over 600m Euros in debt. They also have an injury crisis to battle.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are not the only club monitoring the Frenchman as he continues to be one of the players with the greatest suitors on the European scene.
How Manchester United failed to bring Dembele to Old Trafford from Barcelona
It was gathered that the Manchester-based team was already one step away from signing Dembélé last summer. But the transfer fell through after the operation seemed on track.
Dembele at the last minute resisted leaving Barcelona and stayed under Ronald Koeman. This proved to be the correct decision as the Frenchman has been featuring in the last matches and he has continued to show promises. This season could be termed his best in a Barca shirt. So far, he has scored three goals in nine games and created one assist.
This has reignited Manchester united’s interest in him with his current deal at the Catalan club ending in 2022.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that United remains interested but not at any price. This would be impossible as Barça is asking for 70-80M.
As United is not ready to pay such an amount, they will try a loan – which will not be possible given the circumstances that Koeman’s squad is experiencing with all the injuries.
