Odion Ighalo is set for a summer exit from Al-Hilal after two spectacular seasons with the club.
The former Manchester United loanee will leave Al-Hilal at the end of the season.
Al-Hilal confirmed Odion Ighalo’s imminent exit in a social media post thanking the Nigeria international for his standout performance in his two years with the club.
Ighalo hit the ground running in his Al-Hilal career after joining the club from Al-Shabab in January 2022 for £2.90m.
The 33-year-old led Al-Hilal to the Saudi Pro League title in his debut season with the club. He also won the Saudi Pro League golden boot after scoring 24 goals to emerge the top-scorer.
In his second season with the club, Odion Ighalo has recorded 19 goals with 2 assists and won the Kings Cup trophy for the club.
Ighalo did not limit his overwhelming performance in the Saudi Pro League to Al-Hilal. Before joining the club, he maintained his prolific goal-scoring boots for Al-Shabab.
In his first season at Al-Shabab, Odion Ighalo scored 9 goals in 13 appearances and 12 goals in 18 games in his second season.
The Nigeria international has now increased his goal tally in the Saudi Pro League to 52 goals.
Ighalo Leaves Al-Hilal amid links to Lionel Messi
Odion Ighalo is leaving Al-Hilal amid rumors the club have brokered a deal with PSG forward Lionel Messi to join the club in the summer.
Lionel Messi will leave PSG at the end of the season with reports emerging Al-Hilal have tabled a record offer worth over €400million each year for the services of the 2022 World Cup winner.
The Saudi Pro League giants have been on the trail of the Barcelona legend following his contract renewal deadlock with PSG.
The Argentine playmaker clashed with PSG, skipping training to undertake an unauthorized tourist trip to Saudi Arabia.
He was suspended and later reinstated back to the club after he tendered an apology but his strained relationship with the club was far from over.
At the time of filing this report, Lionel Messi’s next destination is unknown after his father and agent, Jorge Messi, debunked rumors his son, Messi, has agreed a deal with Al-Hilal.
However, it is apparent the record Ballon d’Or winner is more likely to switch to Saudi Arabia as he nears the twilights of his legendary career.
However, it is still uncertain whether his move is related to Odion Ighalo’s exit.
What next for Odion Ighalo?
Odion Ighalo is still active in both club and international football. With his imminent summer exit from Al-Hilal at hand, his next destination is unknown. The Nigeria international will hope to land a new deal and continue with his football career as soon as possible.
