Nico Schulz was born on the 1st of April 1993. He is a German professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and the national team of his home country, Germany.
Maria Pletz, the ex-girlfriend of the 29-year-old Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schulz, with 12 caps for the German national team, filed a 76-page complaint in which she recounted several cases of abuse and domestic violence, as reported by Bild.
The report came to the limelight this Sunday morning, the 7th of August, as she alleged Schulz, who has had 12 appearances for Germany since 2018, had assaulted her in 2020 while she was heavily pregnant with his daughter and on the verge of bringing the baby into the world. It was claimed that Schulz kicked her in the stomach with his shoed foot in an attempt to terminate the pregnancy.
The Police in their quest to ascertain the report had raided Nico Schulz’s house to secure evidence as part of the investigation. After the search, they claimed to behold some indicting information. “Investigations are pending due to a criminal complaint filed by an ex-girlfriend. There was a search in his house and data was secured”, a police statement read.
However, the German tabloid Bild newspaper ran images of text messages allegedly sent by Nico Schulz, where he acknowledged his actions and apologized for his behavior, along with pictures purportedly showing injuries to Schulz and his prosecutor, his ex-girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Schulz had parted from the mother of his child and is currently in a dating relationship with another woman, Nicole Poturalski, a 29-year-old Berlin model who is said to have had an affair with famous American actor Brad Pitt.
Borussia Dortmund issued a statement on Sunday afternoon in response to the allegations laid before the player, saying they only became aware of the “extremely serious and shocking” allegations through media reports.
Dortmund said they had not yet taken disciplinary actions against the German defender as the situation was “extremely unclear” but vow to do so if Schulz is declared guilty of the allegations pressed before him.
Moreover, amidst the allegations by Schulz’s prosecutor cum ex-girlfriend, that has been hovering around the internet, Nico Schulz, according to his statement has denied the claims, saying he’s innocent as he didn’t commit any of the prosecutor’s allegation against him.
He told Dortmund that he will defend himself against these allegations with the help of a lawyer and that he will also maintain his innocence.
If found guilty, Nico Schulz is liable to face ten years imprisonment as a repercussion for his crime according to German law.
