Neymar has provided food relief to the people of southern Brazil, an area in the South American country that has been affected by flooding.

In an act of generosity and to pull support for the flood-affected victims, the Brazilian football star shared palliatives to people in his country at a crucial hour.

Flooding has sprawled through Rio Grande do Sul – the state in Brazil affected by the natural disaster, with about 90 people dead and nearly 150,000 others have been relocated from their homes based on reports circulating in the media.

The compassionate gesture of Neymar is timely, as he also solicited support for those affected in his homeland.

The 32-year-old, who is currently out of action due to injury shared a video on Instagram which included the relief packages alongside an emotional caption that reads:

“I don’t like and don’t like to post everything I do or help, because who does it .. do it from the heart, not from the commitment.

“So, this post is to encourage more people to help. I’d like to thank the pilots of my aircraft and everyone involved.

“I’m here from afar praying that everything goes back to normal… My father is taking care of me and giving all the help possible.”

Moreover, all international flights from the city of Rio Grande do Sul have been suspended since Friday, May 3, 2024, as the local authorities look to sort out the issue.

The Brazilian government have rightly swung into action, as they have relocated over 150,000 people to relief shelters as earlier indicated, whilst also providing them with necessary amenities.

It is understood that the weather will likely not change in the coming days, and as such local support groups are intensifying efforts to ensure victims are well catered for in the coming hours.

Despite the commendable efforts by local authorities in Brazil, reports indicate that the death toll could experience a major increase.

Hundreds of people are said to still be missing, and the individuals in charge of searching for their whereabouts could find it hard to locate them, given the harsh weather conditions.

Many across the globe are praying for the South American nation, hoping for respite and peace at this critical stage.

    Neymar’s Injury Update

Meanwhile, Neymar is currently recovering from his ACL injury that he picked up during international duty with Brazil in October 2023, about a month after making his debut for Al Hilal.

The Brazil international made 5 appearances for Al Hilal before his lengthy injury, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists across all competitions.

Neymar joined the Saudi Pro League side for a fee of €90 million, and he is the most expensive signing in the country’s history.

The former Barcelona man is unlikely to feature in the national squad for the Copa America which will be held in the summer despite optimism during the turn of the year that he could be available for the tourney.

Anyway, Neymar is expected to return to action for Al Hilal next season, and he will be hoping to come back in top shape for the likely Pro League champions.

Al Hilal sit at the summit of the Saudi Pro League with 86 points from 30 league matches, winning 28 games and drawing 2.

The Riyadh-based club remain unbeaten in the Saudi top flight and it appears they might end the season without losing any game – a feat that will certainly be an immense achievement.
