Neymar has reportedly reached a pre-contract agreement with Paris Saint Germain ahead of the expiration of his current contract with the club. The contract of the 29-year-old Brazilian left-winger is ought to expire in June 2022 but based on reports, he might stay at the club a bit longer.
Due to how important the player has been at the club, PSG have been striving to keep him beyond June 30, 2022. Yet, the speculation that the 29-year-old Brazil international wants to return to FC Barcelona is growing stronger by the day.
Recall that Neymar left FC Barcelona for PSG on August 3, 2017, for a transfer fee worth €222 million which makes him the most expensive player in the world.
Since he joined the club, he has scored 83 goals and provided 47 assists in 105 games. He is being criticized due to how frequently he gets injured and for always being punished for unnecessary antics on the pitch.
Despite the criticism, PSG are interested in keeping the Brazilian player at the club a bit longer and the player is reportedly interested in staying even though contradictory reports claimed that Neymar desperately wants to rejoin Barcelona.

Based on the reported pre-contract agreement between Neymar and PSG, Neymar might not have to leave PSG in June 2022. If the contract becomes official, Neymar might have to remain at PSG until 2026 which means that the proposed contract would expire when the Brazilian star turns 35-year-old.
Since Neymar has reportedly agreed to a pre-contract agreement with PSG, the speculation linking him to a return to FC Barcelona might subside in the coming weeks if the report is anything to go by.
The Brazilian star has managed to make just 13 La Liga appearances in which he scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in 13 games this season. He has played a total of 20 games in all competitions this season.
As it stands, PSG will now have to focus on keeping Kylian Mbappé whose contract will also expire in June 2022. The 22-year-old French striker has recently complained about being criticized in France which could be a motivation for him to leave the club.
Reports claimed that the France international who has scored 20 goals and provided 6 assists in 26 league games so far this season has not been cooperating with PSG in terms of extending his stay at PSG.
If Kylian Mbappé insists on leaving PSG this summer or in January next year, the club is reportedly looking at accepting nothing less than €150 million from his suitor who could be Real Madrid or Liverpool. But if he decides to stay, he might want to ask for most of the goodies that might be in Neymar’s pre-contract agreement.
