Players of Newcastle United will share bonuses of £1million if they emerge winner of the EFL Cup and win the club’s first title in over four decades.

The Magpies take on Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday and it would be an opportunity for Newcastle United to get their hands on a trophy for the first time in forty-eight (48) years.

Newcastle United’s impressive bonus amount is ten (10) times more than the amount Eddie Howe’s side would receive from the EFL in prize money if they win on Saturday.

However, the club owners of Newcastle United want to reward the footballers for what would be a grand achievement if they do lay their hands on the title.

The Club based in Tyneside previous glorious reign

Newcastle United at a point in time in English Football were amongst the top echelons of clubs competing for honours until they fell by the wayside.

Nevertheless, they are seemingly retracting their steps back towards contending alongside the big boys since the Saudi Arabian Consortium acquired the side.

The bonuses to be doled out would be divided amongst Newcastle United’s players using a way that involves both games and minutes played across the matches in the Carabao Cup.

Eddie Howe would also get a bonus already stated in his contract if he leads Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup on Sunday.

If they lay their hands on the EFL Cup title, it would be their first domestic trophy since winning the FA Cup in 1955.

The bonuses to be given to the players were already discussed, agreed and consented to by the hierarchy and the players last summer.

It was done in a swift manner and in a more comfortable fashion than under the former owner of the club, Mike Ashley.

Before the start of the 2017/18 and 2018/19 football season, players of Newcastle United were involved in a squabble with Mike Ashley over bonus payments.

The money available as prize money in the Carabao Cup is little as the winning team will take home just £100,000 and runners-up will receive £50,000 additional to the salary earnings

And in contrast, Winners of the older cup competition in football, The FA Cup receive prize money of £2 million euros.

The former Liverpool shot-stopper, Loris Karius, will also be eligible for a bonus, even though he would only be making his first start for Newcastle United in the final after joining Newcastle United as a free agent in September.

Loris Karius is expected to be handed a start for the Magpies in the EFL Cup final due to Nick Pope’s red card against Newcastle United.

Martin Dubravka would also be unavailable due to playing for Manchester United earlier this season which made him cup-tied, Karl Darlow is also on loan at Championship side Hull City.

The herculean test they face in Manchester United

Manchester United played out a fierce draw with Newcastle United earlier on this season and Eddie Howe’s side understand the herculean task in front of them as they face high-flying and scintillating Manchester United.

Eddie Howe has never won a major domestic title in England either as a player or as a manager.

The last time the Toon Army made their appearance in a major cup final in England was in 1998/99 when they lost to Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup by 2-0.

They would be hoping to come out triumphant in this encounter and the Newcastle United administrators are doing all within their powers to ensure that it becomes a possibility.
