Scott Mctominay is set to bring his over-two-decade stint with Manchester United to an end as Napoli finally reach an agreement with Manchester United for his transfer.

Mctominay made the list of players in Erik ten Hag’s chopping block this summer as the Dutch pressed on with his decision to overhaul and streamline the squad for the ongoing campaign.

Scott Mctominay to Napoli

Despite making appearances for the club at the start of the campaign, including a cameo in the 2-1 loss to Brighton at Falmer Stadium, it was understood the player’s future lay away from the Old Trafford outfit due to the anticipated restructuring of Man United midfield.

Futballnews understood United had intensified talks with PSG and Manuel Ugarte’s camp for his transfer to the Premier League club. So, Mctominay was expected to leave to make way for the Uruguayan midfielder.

Napoli led the list of clubs interested in Mctominay and had intensified talks with United for the player in recent days. The Neapolitans first tabled a €25million for the player, which was outrightly turned down by United, who wanted nothing less from €30million for the player.

Sources close to the club reveal United were ready to shove plans for the sale of Scott Mctominay if they don’t bag a suitable offer meeting their asking price for the player.

Now, according to Sky Sports, Napoli have finally reached an agreement with the Premier League giants for the services of the Scotland international. The Serie A giants have reportedly agreed to pay €30million for Mctominay.

The report adds an undisclosed significant sell-on clause has been attached to the deal. This implies United will bag a significant amount should Napoli sell off the player in the near future.
