Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis explained that he hired former Al Nassr manager Rudi Garcia after knowing him for 10 days.
De Laurentiis said, “I am pleased to announce that, after having known him for the last 10 days, Mr. Rudi Garcia will be the new coach of Napoli.” To him, the most sincere welcome and a good luck wish.”
The Frenchman replaced Luciano Spalletti, who went on a sabbatical leave away from coaching.
Napoli confirmed his appointment on June 15, 2023, shortly after the start of Italy’s Nations Cup semi-final against Spain.
However, Napoli had failed to release much about his appointment, and the length of his contract was not mentioned in the club’s official statement.
Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Christopher Gailter was believed to be the leading candidate for the job.
Luis Enrique was also linked with the Napoli job, but he was scrapped by the Napoli president.
