Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk revealed that the goal he scored against David Raya in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal was planned.
The Ukrainian lobbed Arsenal’s keeper with what appeared to be a cross shortly after the restart of the London Derby at Stamford Bridge on October 21.
The sparked debate after the match. While so many fans believe that the lob from the Chelsea winger was not intentional, he claims he wanted to score.
Mudryk revealed that his effort was in between a cross and a shot, as he claims that Chelsea goalkeeper coach informed him to try his luck.
Speaking on the goal, Mykhailo Mudryk said: “Before the game, our goalkeeper coach told me to look at their keeper because sometimes he is trying to read things and he can just lose the goal, so I can chip him.”
Mykhailo Mudryk, who spoke after the game, added: “So it was something I knew and I kept it in my head. I went for something between the cross and the shot and it was a good decision.”
The goal was the Ukrainian’s first Premier League goal for the Blues after his impressive run of form from the international campaign.
“It was amazing to share this moment with our fans, and against Arsenal especially,” Mykhailo Mudryk continued.
“It was a special moment, I really appreciate their support a lot. It means a lot to me to score at Stamford Bridge, especially because I can share this moment with them.”

Mykhailo Petrovych Mudryk, a professional football player from Ukraine, was born on January 5, 2001. He plays as a winger for Chelsea of the Premier League and the Ukrainian national team.
Before transferring to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2016, Mudryk began his career in the Metalist Kharkiv and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk academies.
