Over time, football has experienced remarkable history regarding attacking partnerships both on and off the pitch and we will be centering our gaze on the most productive in the English Premier League history.

These partnerships are in every facet of the team, either from the defensive pairings with the central defenders or the midfield pairings that has got electric combinations.

There are also excellent attacking partnerships, which we have seen wreck havoc on opposition defenses across the years.

9) Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah = 22 goal combinations for Liverpool

Starting from the bottom, we jet to Anfield where Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane reigned supreme.

The pair appeared like they weren’t always on good terms, possibly due to the praises one received over the other.

However, they contributed 22 goals for Liverpool since they first played together in the 2017/18 season.

The encounter involving Liverpool against Watford ended 3-3 with the duo ending Liverpool’s 30-year wait for a Premier League title.

Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah also led Liverpool to the Champions League title, Club World Cup, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

Salah netted 12 goals, while Mane scored 10 in their 22 goals contribution for Liverpool and the attacking partnership ended in 2022.

Sadio Mane opted to join Bayern Munich from Liverpool, after netting 90 goals for the Merseyside based club.

Mohammed Salah is still a Red and he netted 29 Premier League goals last season to extend his remarkable goal tally with Liverpool to 137.

The Egyptian is the Anfield side’s fifth all-time top scorer.

9) Alan Shearer and Nolberto Solano = 22 goals combination for Newcastle United

Alan Shearer, the Englishman whose name resonates for greatness in terms of goals in the Premier League, created a telepathic attacking partnership with Nolberto Solano.

Shearer netted 260 Premier League goals playing for Blackburn and Newcastle United, but the partnership that was very productive was with Nolberto Solano.

The pair played together for seven campaigns together at the Saint James’ Park.

It is understandable to say Solano created from his position as a left winger while Alan Shearer did the scoring as a striker.

Solano provided 54 assists for Newcastle United and in the combination involving both players the Peruvian assisted Shearer 16 times.

Alan Shearer retired from football at the end of the 2006 season and that halted the partnership.

Nolberto Solano continued to represent the magpies for two additional seasons during which he provided 8 more goals.

7) Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman = 24 goals for Liverpool

Fowler and McManaman were great partners in the 1990s

These two were first academy teammates and they transitioned superbly into the first team.

Both players made over 250 appearances for Liverpool in the 1990s. McManaman was the first to get into the senior team when Robbie Fowler joined him three years later.

Steve McManaman scored 66 Premier League goals and provided 86 assists while Robbie Fowler scored 128 league goals for Liverpool.

McManaman was largely the provider of the two, assisting 20 of 24 goal combinations between the two.

Their relationship was largely platonic as even Fowler in an interview with BT Sport expressed how “gutted” and how he  almost cried when McManaman revealed he was leaving to join Real Madrid at the end of the 1998/99 season.

The duo reprised the attacking partnership at Manchester City, but it didn’t produce any further goal contribution to their tally.

7) Freddie Ljungberg and Thierry Henry = 24 goal combinations for Arsenal

Ljungberg was already at Arsenal for a season, before Thierry Henry made that switch from Juventus in the summer of 1999.

The pair went on to achieve major remarkable feats at Arsenal, including winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cup titles.

Freddie Ljungberg, the former Sweden International scored 46 goals and provided 31 assists.

Thierry Henry scored 175 goals and provided 80 assists in the English Premier League for the Gunners.

Shockingly, Ljungberg scored majority of the goals in the partnership, scoring 15 goals of the 24 the combination produced, while Henry netted 9.

In astonishing fashion, Henry made all three assists for Ljungberg’s only career hat-trick against Sunderland in 2003.

The duo departed North London in the summer of 2007, with Ljungberg heading to West Ham United and Thierry Henry to Barcelona.

6) Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino = 25 goal combinations for Liverpool

This is the second time Salah’s name is being displayed on the list and this is due to the telepathy he created with former teammate at Liverpool, Roberto Firmino.

5) Darren Anderton and Teddy Sheringham = 27 goal combinations for Tottenham Hotspur

Despite Teddy Sheringham joining Manchester United for four seasons and Darren Anderton’s long-term injury lay off, the duo still managed to create a very fruitful partnership at North London.

The pair spent 7 years together at Spurs, little over a dozen of years and they used their immense qualities to trouble defenses.

The 27 goals combination which they produced highlighted their vision, skill and guile to thread through defenses.

Sheringham scored a large chunk of the goals in the partnership with 20, while Darren Anderton netted 7 goals.

Their partnership reached its brim at the early stages of 1994/95 season, with Darren making 6 assists for Teddy Sheringham in the first half of the league season.

The partnership ended when Sheringham left Spurs in 2003, to join Portsmouth ending their relationship on the pitch.

Darren Anderton exited North London one year after joining Birmingham.

3) Robert Pires and Thierry Henry = 29 goal combinations for Arsenal

Robert Pires and Thierry Henry were instrumental to Arsenal’s “invincibles” triumph.

This is the second time a player is making an appearance twice on the list and this time it is Thierry Henry.

Henry created an amazing partnership with compatriot Robert Pires and this partnership is different in output.

With this partnership, Thierry Henry scored the most goals with 17 to Robert Pires’ 12 goals.

However, Robert Pires left the Emirates Stadium for Villarreal in 2006.

Robert Pires scored 63 goals and provided 42 assists in the Premier League, they won five major trophies in England, including the “Invincibles” triumph, which resulted in them winning the Premier League without losing a game.

The pair also showed their ruthless partnership internationally as they won the European Championship and World Cup with France.

3) David Silva and Sergio Aguero = 29 goal combinations for Manchester City

This partnership was truly tremendous as it led Manchester City to many successes on the domestic front.

Sergio Aguero is the fourth highest scorer in Premier League history while David Silva is seventh in terms of assists in the Premier League.

Aguero, the Argentine scored 21 out of the 29 goals they combined to produce for Manchester City.

Silva’s final set of assists for Aguero, was for one of the goals in his last hat-trick for the Citizens.

He took his hat-trick tally to 12, usurping Alan Shearer to the top spot for the most hat-trick by a player in Premier League history.

The duo played for 9 seasons together at Manchester City winning 11 major trophies, including four Premier League titles.

One of the Premier League titles was the one where Manchester City broke the record for the most points amassed in a league season.

The attacking partnership of the duo ended in 2020, when David Silva returned to Spain, joined Real Sociedad.

Sergio Aguero also departed the Etihad Stadium the following year, joining Barcelona for a short stint prior to retiring.

2) Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard = 36 goal combinations for Chelsea

This partnership was really menacing for Chelsea

Arguably the most iconic partnership in Premier League history and they produced excellence for many years.

Frank Lampard scored 147 Premier League goals for Chelsea and provided 93 assists.

Drogba netted 104 goals and provided 64 assists in the English Premier League for Chelsea.

The pair spent 8 seasons together at Chelsea and they combined to produce 36 goals, with Didier Drogba scoring 24 of those goals while Lampard netted 12.

The Ivorian and the Englishman also combined twice in finals to help the Blues to an FA Cup triumph.

Lampard teed up Drogba to score the only goal that helped Chelsea beat Manchester United in extra time in the 2007 FA Cup final.

He also assisted the former Galatasaray player’s goal in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool in 2012.

Their monstrous partnership culminated in 2012 when Drogba departed Chelsea to join Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

1) Harry Kane and Son Heung Min = 47 goal combinations for Tottenham Hotspur

These two have wreaked havoc on defenses in the past 8 years, since Heung Min Son joined Spurs in 2015.

They are several goals combinations apart from the nearest challengers on this list and the pair are closing in on the 50 goal tally.

Harry Kane has been prolific for many years in the Premier League, scoring 213 goals so far.

However, he also has a tendency to also create as much as he scores and that has helped the partnership to grow immensely.

Son has scored the most goals in the 47 combinations with 24 goals to his name, while Kane has netted 23 goals.

In the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, the pair linked up to produce 21 goals for Spurs.

Harry Kane created all the assists for Son’s four goals against Southampton as they combined for nine goals in five matches at the beginning phase of the 2020/21 season.

However, they couldn’t reproduce similar magic last term as Heung Min Son battled through several goal droughts.

Anyway, their continuation of their remarkable Premier League attacking partnership is hanging in the balance as it is unknown if Harry Kane will remain at Spurs past this summer.

Bayern Munich are eyeing the England International and they have sent in several bids to Daniel Levy, with the intention of snapping up the attacker.
