From 2016-2017 season German Bundesliga clubs have bought a couple of high flying teenagers from everywhere across the world for some good sum of money.
Here is a list of top 10 most expensive teenage football signings that have been made in German Bundesliga so far:
1. Renato Sanches
Renato Sanches’ 35 million euros transfer from Benfica to Bayern Munich prior to the 2016/2017 season is the most expensive deal involving a teenager in the Bundesliga. The Portuguese midfielder was 18-year-old when he made the move.
2. Breel Embolo
Breel Embolo left Switzerland club Basel and joined German Bundesliga club Schalke 04 prior to the 2016-2017 season for a whopping 26.5 million euros transfer deal. The Switzerland football star was 19-year-old when he made the move.
3. Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham is the latest entry into the list. He just left an English club Birmingham City this summer and joined German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for 23 million euros prior to the 2020-2021 season. The English youngster was 17-year-old when he signed the deal.
4. Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland left Australian club Red Bull Salzburg to join German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund during the just concluded 2019-2020 season. The German club paid 20 million euros to bring him to Germany. The Norwegian was 19-year-old when he signed the deal.
5. Paulinho
Paulinho arrived at Bayer Leverkusen from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama prior to the 2018-2019 season. The German club spent 18.5 million euros to bring the Brazilian to Germany. He was 19-year-old then.
6. Panagiotis Retsos
Panagiotis Retsos left Greek club Olympiacos and joined Bayer Leverkusen prior to the 2017-2018 season. Olympiacos earned 17.5 million euros in the transaction. The 21-year-old Greece international was 19-year-old when he signed the deal.
7. Leonardo Balerdi
Leonardo Balerdi joined Borussia Dortmund from Argentine club Boca Juniors during the 2018-2019 season for a transfer fee worth 15.5 million euros. The Argentine football star was 19-year-old when he made the deal.
8. Oliver Burke
Oliver Burke brought his football career to German Bundesliga after RB Leipzig signed him from English club Nottingham Forest prior to the 2016-2017 season. The German club paid 15.2 million to bring the 23-year-old Scotland youngster to Germany.
9. Ousmane Dembélé
Ousmane Dembélé joined Borussia Dortmund prior to the 2016-2017 season for 15 million euros. The French forward who left Rennes and joined the German club was 19-year-old then.
10. Ozan Kabak
Ozan Kabak left Turkish side Galatasaray and joined German Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart prior to the 2019-2020 season. The 20-year-old Turkish centre-back’s deal was worth 15 million euros. He was 19-year-old when he landed the deal.
