Mohamed Salah – 9 goals
Mohamed Salah scored and assisted in Liverpool’s 2024-25 opening Premier League campaign against newly promoted side Ipswich Town at Portman Road. It was his 350th Premier League appearance and he turned it into an art, further etching his name to the Premier League history books.
And that was not all. Salah also topped the charts in the Premier League for the most goal involvements in the opening weekend, recording his 14th. Overall, he has now scored 158 Premier League goals and provided 70 assists.
Frank Lampard – 8 goals
Frank Lampard wasn’t a forward but one of the best-scoring midfielders the Premier League ever had. The Former West Ham, Chelsea, and Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard redefined the box-to-box midfield role with his legendary goal-scoring abilities.
He scored 177 goals and clocked 102 assists in his 609 Premier League matches. Eight of those goals came in the opening matchweek.
Wayne Rooney – 8 goals
Former Everton (2 spells) and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney left an everlasting mark in Premier League history. Rooney could play in several positions. Rooney, who is the third-highest scorer (208) in Premier League history, scored eight goals in the competition’s matchweek 1.
The five-time champion managed 103 assists as well. He won five Premier League honors and made 491 appearances.
Alan Shearer – 8 goals
Premier League’s highest scorer, Alan Shearer, bagged eight goals in matchweek one. Shearer, who represented Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, hit 260 goals and made 64 assists in 441 matches. Shearer won three Premier League Golden Boot awards. He won one Premier League title with Blackburn in 1994-95.
Teddy Sheringham – 7 goals

Sergio Aguero – 7 goals
Former Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero is another Premier League legend, known for his prolific goal-scoring prowess. Aguero played for only Manchester City in the Premier League where his career peaked. He made 275 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 185 goals. Seven of the 185 goals were scored in the Premier League’s opening weekend.
Jamie Vardy – 7 goals
England forward Jamie Vardy is nearing the twilights of his career with Leicester City but is definitely an unsung Premier League legend. The Sheffield-born former Fleetwood Town forward is one of the best strikers the Premier League has produced.
He led the pack in 2016 when Leicester City staged a surprising challenge for the Premier League title and subsequently won it. He has only played for Leicester City in the Premier League and is among the best with seven goals in the opening weekend. Overall, Vardy has 174 goals in 405 Premier League matches for Leicester City.
