Three MLS footballers – Dagur Dan Thorhallsson, Wikelman Carmona, and Joseph Rosales – have penned down new contracts with their various MLS clubs in the past week.

The new contract renewals came amidst the ongoing 2024 MLS campaign with the respective clubs looking to boost their lines in the campaign by keeping their best legs with fresh offers.

Dagur Dan Thorhallsson signs new Orlando City SC contract

Iceland international, Dagur Dan Thorhallsson has penned down a new contract with MLS outfit, Orlando City SC.

Orlando City SC announced the new contract extension for Thorhallsson with the club’s General Manager, Luiz Muzzi, lauding the player for his contributions to the team.

According to Muzzi, Thorhallsson has been integral to the Orlando City SC squad since he joined the team in 2023.

“Since Dagur has arrived at the club, he has proven himself to be someone who is adaptive and versatile in all situations, showing a willingness to do whatever the team requires of him in any scenario,” Luiz Muzzi said.

Details of the new contract reveal Thorhallsson has penned down a two-year contract with the club with a one-year extension option. Thorhallsson, 24, joined Orlando City SC from Iceland club, Breidablik UBK in 2023. He has made 65 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 4 goals with 7 assists.

Wikelman Carmona signs new New York Red Bull contract

Venezuelan footballer, Wikelman Carmona, has also penned down a new contract with his club New York Red Bull.

New York Red Bull’s head of sport, Jochen Schneider, confirmed the contract renewal for the player on Wednesday, July 24. Jochen hailed Carmona for his incredible improvement since he joined the MLS, adding the club is happy to have brokered a new deal with the 21-year-old.

“Wiki has shown a great development over his last three years with the club. We are very excited to keep Wiki with the club for the long term and to continue to see him grow and succeed on the pitch,” Jochen said.

Wiki has made 23 MLS appearances for New York this season, scoring three times, and providing three assists.

Details of the new contract reveal the Venezuelan youth player has penned down a three-year contract with the MLS outfit till 2027 with an option for 2028. The new deal will see Carmona extend his spell with New York Red Bull’s first-team to six years since making his first-team debut in 2021. Overall, he has made 66 MLS appearances with the club, scoring 5 goals.

Joseph Rosales signs new contract with Minnesota United FC

Honduran footballer, Joseph Rosales, has also penned down a new contract with Minnesota United FC. The club’s sporting director and soccer officer, Khaled El-Ahmad, announced the new contract for the 23-year-old, highlighting his contributions to the team and the club’s expectations from the player.

“Joseph has been an important part of our club for the past three seasons and has proven to his teammates, coaches, and fans that he belongs in Minnesota. We are looking forward to him continuing his excellent performances for the club,” El-Ahmad said.

Rosales has committed to a new three-year contract with Minnesota United FC till 2027 with an extension option till 2028. He joined the MLS outfit from Panamian elite side C.A. Independiente in 2021 and has made 69 appearances in all competitions with one goal and 12 assists.

Rosales initially joined the MLS outfit on loan from Independiente. After a 30-match impressive run on his debut campaign, he secured a permanent contract in 2022. The new contract will now see the Honduras international complete a six-year career run with the club.
