Mikel Arteta has claimed that the English Premier League title race between Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City will be decided on the last day of the season.

Three points separate the three Premier League powerhouses, with Arsenal leading Manchester City and Liverpool by one point ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s clash against Manchester United on Sunday, April 7.

With eight matches remaining, the title race is too close to call and Gunners manager Arteta thinks all three sides will have a shot of winning the league on the final day of the 2023/2024 season.

Just three points separate the top three sides in what could be the closest and most unpredictable title race in the competition’s history.

The Gunners are in a three-team race alongside reigning champions Manchester City and Liverpool, who are fuelled by Jurgen Klopp’s imminent departure after close to a decade as manager.

However, It is the first time three clubs have been in contention at this stage of a campaign since 2010, the title race has only been decided on the final day on nine occasions.

Arsenal visited Brighton on Saturday, April 6 after Man City faced Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park but before Liverpool traveled to Manchester to face United.

Speaking concerning the title race, Arteta said: “This is the level and it’s been the level in this league for the past six or seven years. The margins are so small, let’s see those numbers at the end of the last game and hopefully, if those are maintained, I think we have a good chance”.

“We’re still not at the top and we have to transform that into winning and winning and winning, and that’s the only way to have the chance in the last game of the season to do it.”

The Spaniard added: “I don’t know what is going to happen but it is very unlikely that everybody wins every game. You look back a what happened in previous seasons and it is very, very unlikely – but you don’t know”.

“Let’s do everything we possibly can. Don’t leave anything left and play with the same enthusiasm and hunger and quality, and let’s see where it takes us.”

Arsenal are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2004, while Guardiola is eager to add to his five league titles in the English top-flight, and Jurgen Klopp will aim to leave on a high, with the German stepping down as Reds manager at the end of the season.

Mikel Arteta welcomed back several first-choice players, including Declan Rice, for their trip to Amex after resting several stars for the 2-0 midweek victory against relegation-threatened Luton Town.

What is next?

Liverpool will pay a visit to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, April 7, while Arsenal and Man City will be getting ready for their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively.
