Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed his decision on his Arsenal future, including the club’s transfer plans.

With the 2024 summer transfer window winding down, Arsenal have yet to sign a player as of the time of filing this report. Moreso, Mikel Arteta will be entering the last lap of his contract next season.

After an impressive campaign with the Gunners in the past two seasons, Arteta’s Arsenal future is still steep in uncertainty. Sources close to the club reveal he was expected to enter into contract talks with the club at the end of the last campaign but the talks did not take place.

With months left on his contract and no renewal talks yet, Arteta’s Arsenal future has been a hot topic in the rumor mills.

Amidst uncertainties on his future with the club, the Gunners former-player-turned-manager has dropped a hint on his Arsenal future.

Speaking to ESPN, Arteta revealed the proceedings for his renewal with the club have yet to begin and added he is happy being at the club and is expecting the renewal process to be smooth.

“There is no update [on his contract] at the moment. The thing that hasn’t changed is how happy I am and how valued I feel here and how much I love representing this club.

“Things happen in a natural way and our relationship is that good that I don’t predict any issues happening. But things have to develop in the right way and it will happen,” he added.

Futballnews understands Arsenal are interested in keeping Arteta following his standout campaign with the club. He is considered key to the Gunners’ long-term project.

On Arsenal transfer plans, Arteta added the club are looking to improve the squad in every department this summer and will utilize the transfer window to keep the team abreast before the beginning of the next campaign.

“We are looking to improve in every possible department. There are things that we have to improve, that’s for sure and we are going to try to do. We have been very aggressive, we are very determined and we have a clear idea obviously of what we want to do. It will come down to finding the right agreements at the right time.”

After a less-than-stellar first two seasons in the Arsenal dugout, Arteta has shown a remarkable improvement in the last seasons with Arsenal. He led the Gunners to challenge for the Premier League title, finishing as runners-up on both occasions.

With the 2024-24 season set to kick off, the Spaniard will hope to build on his gains and lead a more formidable charge for the Premier League title again.

However, they will need reinforcements to get off the mark. They have been linked with a move for Spain’s right-winger Nico Williams. Also, they have reportedly have their £24million bid for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, rejected, and are also in the mention of clubs interested in signing Nigeria international Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal will kick off their preseason against Bournemouth on July 24 before heading to Los Angeles later this month where they will take on Manchester United at SoFi Stadium on July 27 and then Liverpool in Philadelphia on July 31.
