Michy Batshuayi has finally left Chelsea for Fenerbahce after a proposed move to Nottingham Forest failed due to late documentation. Michy Batshuayi struggled to make it into Thomas Tuchel’s starting IX since the German tactician resumed duties as manager of the club.

There is now light at the end of the tunnel for the out-of-favor Chelsea player, Michy Batshuayi. With his contract expiring next summer and the 2022 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, Michy Bathshuayi is making efforts to protect his crumbling career. Michy Batshuayi’s hope of playing in the World Cup received a major boost after Turkish club Fenerbahce announced an agreement with Chelsea for his services.

Recall that the CityGround was the 28-year-old’s expected destination. Nottingham Forest have reportedly indicated an interest in signing Batshuyi and all documents were expected to be forwarded in time to Nottingham Forest before the transfer window closes. However, this could not be done before the transfer window closed. The deal was indeed stalled as the deadline caught up with the needed documents.

However, the 28-year-old’s hope of leaving Chelsea was rekindled when Fenerbahce announced that they have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign the Belgium international. Batshuayi will complete a much anticipated move away from Stamford Bridge to resuscitate his dwindling career at the club.

In his six years spell with the club, Batshuayi had made 77 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals. Under Thomas Tuchel, he has further fallen down the pecking order with no place in Chelsea’s squad. He has been left out of Tuchel’s 25-man Premier League squad; a clear message that he was not wanted.

With the 2022 World Cup coming soon, Batshuayi needed to leave Stamford Bridge for a team that will give him enough playing time to resuscitate his career.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fenerbahce have raised the bars of hope for the out-of-fovour striker. The Turkish giants have announced that they have reach an agreement on an undisclosed transfer fee with Chelsea to sign Michy Batshuayi from the club.

While at Chelsea, Batshuayi went on loan five times since he arrived at the club in 2016 from Olympique Marseille of France. The Belgium international had his first loan spell with Borussia Dortmund where he made 10 appearances scoring 7 goals for the Bundesliga giants. From 2018 to 2019, Batshuayi joined Valencia on loan and made 15 appearances for the La Liga club, scoring one goal.

From 2019 to 2021, he was on loan at Crystal Palace, making 29 appearances with 7 goals. He had his final loan spell with Besiktas of Turkey, where he made 33 appearances scoring 14 goals. After his last loan spell with Besiktas, he has not made Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

According to reports, Batshuayi is said to be on his way to Turkey to complete his medical with Fenerbahce before the club will announce the striker officially.
