Arsenal’s midfielder Mesut Ozil touched down in Turkey on Sunday, January 17, to seal his transfer deal with Fenerbahce alongside his wife, Amine Gülşe, and daughter Eda.
The former Germany international which seemed excited about the potential move, took to his social media pages to share pictures showing when he and his family were on board a plane flying to Turkey. He also shared pictures showing when he and his family landed in Turkey.
Mesut Ozil has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce since the January transfer window opened amid interest from Major League Soccer club, DC United. Recently, the attacking midfielder confirmed to the world that if he leaves Arsenal and have to join a Turkish club, the club would be Fenerbahce.
After that, it became clear that his next club would be Fenerbahce as the coach of the club, Erol Bulut confirmed that Ozil’s move to the club would be confirmed in days.
During the weekend, reports surfaced that Arsenal and Mesut Ozil have reached an agreement to terminate the £350,000-per-week contract of the 32-year-old midfielder to make way for him to join Fenerbahce for free.
On Sunday evening, the Turkish club tweeted pictures of Mesut Ozil in Turkey with his family. And the club also shared a picture showing Ozil holding the Fenerbahce’s banner to confirm that the club is negotiating with the player.

According to reports, Ozil is expected to sign a three and a half year deal with the Turkish club but the weekly take-home of the player has not been revealed. However, he might not earn as much as he has been earning at Arsenal since he joined the club from Real Madrid in 2013.
Ozil is expected to find it easier to adapt in Turkey, a country he has taken as his homeland since he left the German national team in 2018. Besides the country being his ancestral home, he has revealed that he has been a fan of Fenerbahce since he was a child.
“I am a Fenerbahce fan,” Ozil told NTV. “That is why I am very happy to be coming to Turkey with Fenerbahce. I’m very excited. God gave me the chance to wear this jersey as a Fenerbahce fan. God willing, I will carry it with honor and do everything I can for the team.”
Besides being a fan of Fenerbahce, Mesut Ozil is married to a Turkish former Model Amine Gülşe. When they got married in 2019, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the wedding ceremony. They had their daughter, Eda, in March 2020.
