Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has made it official that Mauro Icardi has signed a four year deal with the club worth €50 million and additional €8 million for the Argentine striker.

The 27-year-old has been on loan at the club from Italian Serie A side Inter Milan since the beginning of the 2019-2020 season. FutballNews reported that the three-party involved in the deal – Mauro Icardi, Inter Milan and PSG, were happy with the move.

Mauro Icardi agreed to remain in France because it has been made certain that he would lead the attack of the team in the Champions League next season since the club’s out of favour striker, Edinson Cavani, is expected to leave the club when his contract expires in June.

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the signing of Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal, following the striker’s loan from Inter Milan during the 2019-2020 season”, PSG’s statement read.

“The 27-year-old Argentina international, who also holds an Italian passport, has signed a four-year deal with the capital club until 30 June 2024.

“The Rosario-born player is the 16th Argentinian player in the history of Paris Saint-Germain, and has made 31 appearances for the Rouge et Bleu in the 2019-2020 season, picking up a Ligue 1 winner’s medal, scoring 20 goals and providing 4 assists.”

“FC Internazionale Milano announces the transfer of Mauro Icardi to Paris Saint-Germain FC: the striker, born in 1993, has permanently moved to the French club”, Inter Milan said in a statement.

“The Club thanks the player for the six seasons he spent with us and wishes him the best for his future professional career.”

Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara, will be the happiest for this deal as she has always spoken against the management and staff of Inter Milan. One of her outburst on a television show brought about the negative relationship between Icardi and Inter Milan which subsequently led to his being sacked as the captain of the club and being sent to PSG on loan.
