Reports in Paris claimed that the players of Paris Saint Germain are already looking forward to the exit of coach Mauricio Pochettino and the appointment of Zinedine Zidane.

Since Manchester United allowed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to exit the club last weekend, coach Mauricio Pochettino has been the most mentioned name in the corridor of power at Old Trafford.

Reports claimed that the 49-year-old Argentine tactician has been the club’s top choice for over three years. The club’s reportedly tried to replace coach Jose Mourinho with Mauricio Pochettino when the club sacked the Portuguese tactician in 2018.

However, the deal could not scale through and the club had to settle for Solskjaer who managed the club for three years before he was sacked last weekend due to a poor run of games.

Initially, Manchester United reportedly showed interest in Ajax coach Erik ten Hag but the coach has reportedly made it clear that he is not interested in moving to England.

Also, Manchester United reportedly wanted the services of former Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane but reports claimed that the wife of the Franch tactician, Véronique Zidane, is not interested in relocating to the north of England.

Hence, the French coach who has been without a job since the end of the 2020-2021 season, is most likely to join PSG instead of Manchester United.

The good news is that Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly said he is open to joining Manchester United despite still having less than two seasons left on his contract with PSG.

It has been reported that the Argentine tactician has the backing of Manchester United legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson to become the next manager of the Red Devils. He also has the backing of most board members of Manchester United because of the job he did when he was the coach of Tottenham Hotspur.

Recall that Mauricio Pochettino was the coach of Tottenham Hotspur between 2014 and 2019. During his era at the north London club, the Argentine coach ensured Tottenham remained in the top four in the Premier League.

Also, he took Tottenham Hotspur to the peak of club football when he led the club to the final of the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League. Spurs lost the final to Liverpool.

Since he arrived at PSG, Pochettino has helped the French club to win the Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions.

Hence, the fact that the Argentine tactician has knowledge of the Premier League and the Champions League, made him an ideal coach for the current setup of Manchester United according to reports in England.

Meanwhile, a French publication, MARCA claimed that the PSG dressing room prefers to have Zidane as a coach instead of Pochettino.

The biggest obstacle to Pochettino’s exit from PSG is that Manchester United have to pay the French club £10million before the Argentine coach can leave.

If that is done any moment from now, Pochettino would replace Michael Carrick who is currently serving as United’s interim coach.
