Mauricio Pochettino slammed the league’s executive as the fixtures will be ruining his wedding anniversary with wife Karina Grippaldi.

Chelsea were shocked to discover that they would be meeting with Wolves at Molineux Stadium for a 7.30 pm kick-off on the night before Christmas.

Infuriated fans have shown their displeasure with the fixture and have asked for a meeting with organizers in order to get the decision reversed.

However, the fans aren’t the only ones that are affected by the decision, with Chelsea’s new boss also seeing his plans ruined.

Mauricio Pochettino and wife Karina Grippaldi will be celebrating their wedding anniversary on December 23rd, a day before Chelsea take on Wolves on 24th of December.

However, instead of Mauricio Pochettino spending time with his wife Karina, he will be on the touchline at the Molineux Stadium that day.

The game that has been slated to be played on 24th December, 2023 will ruin his plans of enjoying Christmas Eve with family members too.

Pochettino, who was not happy about the fixture said in an interview that: “Our supporters are not happy? Me neither.”

“I’m not happy also because [December] 23rd is my anniversary with my wife and I need to travel to Wolves and I’m not going to spend the night of the 23rd in my house.“

“I believe I am not going to convince her to come [to Wolverhampton].”

“And the 24th for Argentinian people is a really important night and [I] hope to arrive to celebrate on time after the game,” Mauricio Pochettino continued.

“Our fans are not happy and I am not happy also. It is difficult because it is not easy to change. We have to accept we are in England.”

“I need to adapt myself and even if I am not happy I need to do my best to be in our best level and accept this is a situation we cannot change.”

Mauricio Pochettino made these comments following the Chelsea Supporters Trust blasting the Christmas Eve fixture with Wolves.

A statement from the group reads: “This is totally unacceptable. We have made it clear that selecting this kick-off time will place another hurdle in the way of many match-going supporters.”

With Mauricio Pochettino furious over the fixture, the statement added: “We have requested an urgent meeting with the relevant decision-makers within the Premier League.”

“We expect this meeting will be held very soon alongside the Wolves 1877 Trust and the Football Supporters’ Association.”

“And we will formally request the Premier League properly consults supporters and reverses this decision.”
