Out-of-favor Man United winger Mason Greenwood heralded another milestone in his career with another standout performance for Getafe in LaLiga.

The 23-year-old shone bright as Getafe eased past Almeria 3-1 in LaLiga on Saturday, April 27.

The United loanee contributed to all the three goals Getafe scored against Almeria in the match. He bagged a brace and assisted the third goal to secure all three points for the Madrid-based outfit.

The brace and assist has now seen Greenwood take his LaLiga goal tally to 8 goals while his assists tally is 6. This adds up to 14 goal contributions so far.

According to Opta, Getafe’s goal contributions in Getafe’s win over Almeria has seen the youngster set a new career benchmark. He surpassed his highest number of league goal contributions (11) which he recorded at Manchester United in the 2019/20 season.

The new milestone significantly buttresses the gradual development and evolution of the player into a better and finer character in the game.

Interestingly, the prolific winger attained the feat on the first chapter of his career after an 18-month exile from the game.

He nearly had his career ground to a halt after he was arrested in 2022 for allegations of rape and sexual assault. After dragging legal proceedings, all charges against him were dropped by the Crown Prosecuting Council as witnesses reportedly withdrew from the case.

However, United opted to loan out the youngster to restart his career away from Old Trafford due to mounting pressure.

He has a few months left on his loan contract but his next stop is unclear as United have yet to decide on his future.

Meanwhile, top LaLiga clubs are reportedly lining up a move for the youngster should United opt to part ways with him in the summer with a year left on his contract.
