Mason Greenwood will resurrect his international career as he gets set to return to international football with the Jamaica national team.

The 22-year-old has been named in Jamaica’s 27-man provisional squad for the 2024 Copa America.

Greenwood saw his promising career suffer setbacks following charges of assault and controlling behavior in 2022.

He was arrested and prosecuted, leading to his suspension from both club and international football.

However, after an 18-month exile, he has returned to the top of his game, thanks to his six-month loan spell with Getafe in the Spanish top-flight.

Despite his roaring return to footballing action, his parent club Manchester United are hesitant to have him return to the first team. England’s national team, under Gareth Southgate, have not budged on their decision to freeze the player from the team.

Amidst his eroding fortunes in English football, Greenwood is set to take his career elsewhere. He has put up his £2million mansion in Manchester for sale amidst links to top clubs in Europe.

While hoping to continue with club football away from England, he is also set for a return to international action away from England.

Futballnews understands the Jamaican national team were ready to offer the 22-year-old a route back to international football following his deadlock with the England national team.

He has now been named in the team’s provisional squad for Copa America 2024 alongside 26 other players.

Greenwood will be expected to report to the Jamaica national team training camp with other call-ups before the final list is churned out.

Jamaica will kick off their 2024 Copa America against Mexico on June 23, 2024, before taking on Ecuador and Venezuela in Group B.
