Manchester United have retained embattled young winger Mason Greenwood in the 2024-25 Manchester United squad list.
The Red Devils released an updated list of players still contracted to the club for 2024-25 campaign. Sharing the list on social media United wrote;
“Our retained list has been announced following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.”
Greenwood made the cut of players listed in the squad alongside other players. Greenwood’s inclusion in the Man United squad sparked reactions with many insisting United care less about moral leadership but interested in sporting success.
While the Old Trafford outfit have suffered backlashes for including the player in the squad, Futballnews understands the club are ready to part ways with the player this summer.
With his contract yet to expire at Old Trafford, it was logical that United include the youngster in the list. The inclusion doesn’t mean the club is open to having Mason Greenwood return to his career at Old Trafford.
Greenwood was sent on a loan deal to Getafe after he came out unscathed following United’s investigation into allegations of rape, assault, and controlling behavior leveled against him in 2022.
He roared to the top of his game in his six months, recording a career-best 14 goal involvement to win Getafe Player of The Season.
Manchester United are reportedly open to selling him this summer and have slammed a £40m price tag amidst interests from Juventus, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona.
Getafe are also interested in a move for the player with the Azulones hoping to secure another loan deal for the youngster.
We reported earlier that Greenwood is preparing to take his career away from Manchester United. He reportedly sold his Cheshire home worth £2million.
It’s understood Manchester United will be ready to trigger the player’s extension contract to buy time for more reasonable offers for the player.
