Mason Greenwood and his Getafe teammates replaced child mascots with their mothers during LaLiga matchday 34 clash to celebrate Mother’s Day.

In a move that was apparently undertaken by Getafe to mark World’s Day for Mothers, all Getafe players, who started the match against Athletic Bilbao could be seen being walked into the field by their mothers instead of the regular child mascots.

Greenwood’s mum, Melanie Hamilton, could be seen beaming with smiles as she walked out his son and Man United loanee Greenwood to the field of play.

Melanie and all other women, who took part in the walk-out donned Getafe shirts and casual trousers during the walk.

They followed the players to the field, took shots, and then walked off as the players proceeded on handshakes before the match resumed.

While Mason Greenwood has been in the spotlight since his Manchester United saga in 2022, little has been known about his mum Melanie Hamilton,

Melanie Hamilton is married to Mason Greenwood’s father Andrew. The pair have been supportive of their son’s career since the 2022 rape saga that nearly ground it to a halt.

They were regularly seen escorting Greenwood to the court and off the court for a hearing into the case. After charges against the United young sensation were dropped, Andrew was seen in one of Greenwood’s personal drills and training footage, cradling the players’ newborn while the former put himself through spaces in anticipation of his return to footballing action.

Melanie and Andrew also reportedly played a big role in helping Greenwood resettle for a career restart in Spain after Manchester United loaned him to Getafe.

Away from the lofty Mother’s Day ritual by the Getafe players, it was another disappointing outing for Getafe at home against Athletic Bilbao in the game. And more so a nightmare for Greenwood, who missed a penalty in the game.

Atletico Bilbao ran out with a 2-0 victory over the Madrid-based outfit, thanks to a brace by Inaki Williams.
