French striker Marcus Thuram is set to join Inter Milan as a free agent. Thuram chose Inter Milan ahead of AC Milan in what is known as a late shock for the Rossoneri.
Marcus Thuram was looking forward to joining AC Milan on June 23, 2023, but Inter Milan stepped in to sign him.
According to report, Inter Milan offered a wage of €6 million to €6.5 million.
Also, the 2022–23 Champions League finalists had offered the French striker the promise of making him the center of the Inter Milan project, with Eden Dzeko completing a move to the Turkish giant, Fenerbahçe SK.
It was reported that AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli spoke to him about joining the Rossoneri. His French teammates, Theo Hernandez, Mike Maignan, and Olivier Giroud, also tried to convince him to join them at AC Milan.
However, Marcus Thuram’s transfer to Inter Milan does not stop Romelu Lukaku from staying at the club for another season.
Inter Milan and Chelsea are still negotiating another loan deal after the London club rejected the Italian Giant offer for the player.
Before the end of the transfer window, Inter Milan will come with an improved offer to tempt the Chelsea hierarchy. The Belgian striker remains a fan favorite and has a good relationship with manager Simone Inzaghi.
Lukaku scored 14 goals and created seven assists in 37 appearances last season for Inter Milan.
