Olympiacos issued a statement on Twitter in which they stated that the entire Olympiacos family thanked Marcelo for his corporation and enthusiasm while at the club.

Although his stay with them was brief, he created an everlasting bond with the club.

    Marcelo

Marcelo joined Olympiacos on a free transfer last season after winning La Liga and the Champions League with Real Madrid.

The 34-year-old left-back started his career with Brazilian side Fluminense before joining Real Madrid in 2007.

The Brazilian left back enjoyed a bigger amount of success at the Spanish giant, where he won six La Liga titles, five Champions League titles, and two Copa del Reys during his 15 years at the club.

Olympiacos was one of the biggest clubs in Greece, and in the last ten years, the club had won the title eight times and the Greek Cup three times.

He signed a one year deal with the Greek side, but his playing chances were limited due to his age.

Marcelo made just 10 appearances and scored three times. Currently, Olympiacos are in third place in the domestic competition, behind Panathinaikos and AEK.

Olympiacos and Marcelo seem to be happy to see the end to the contract.

Meanwhile, it was reported by Marca that Marcelo is going back to Real Madrid to treat his injury as he hopes to get a new club as quick as possible.

It should be noted that Real Madrid had been an accommodating place for its former players; when Manchester United terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract, he went to Real Madrid and had all his training there before joining Al Nassr.

    Marcelo

Marcelo will surely be given the same treatment. Marcelo has been linked with moving to the Middle East to join his former teammate and friend Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.

If Marcelo joins Al Nassr, Ronaldo and Marcelo will have a nice reunion, both players accomplished a lot while playing for Real Madrid.

After the signing of Ronaldo, Al Nassr are looking forward to signing more big names as they look to make their league more competitive than the others.
