With two players tied at the top of the assists chart, we look at the players with the most assists for Manchester United in the 2019/20 season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United might have failed to secure any silverware last season, but qualification for the Champions League and player improvements can be termed ‘success’ for the club.

Who made it to Manchester United’s top assist list?

1. Anthony Martial

The French forward topped the assist charts for the Red Devils with nine assists. He also racked up 23 goals last season, the club’s highest for the campaign. Since the appointment of Solskjaer as head coach, Martial has found new light at Old Trafford. Followin him in second place is Marcus Rahford.

2. Marcus Rashford

Rashford smashed his personal-best for goals and assists in a Reds shirt. The 22-year-old finished with nine assists in all competitions, the joint-highest assist leader with Martial. Martial and Rashford formed a lethal combo in the attack, with both players assisting a combined eight goals for each other. Seven of those goals were in the Premier League, which is the most by any Manchester United duo since the league was rebranded in 1992. While Rashford assisted six of Martial’s 23 goals, Martial returned the favor with two assists for Rashford’s 22 goals.

3. Bruno Fernandes

Despite making only 22 appearances since his January move, Bruno Fernandes comes third with eight assists, one assist short of second place. Bruno Fernandes hit the ground running for Manchester United following his £47mmillion move in January.

He recorded 12 goals and eight assists in half a season, and his scintillating performances helped push Manchester United to third place and secure Champions League football next season.

Other Notable Contributors

4. Juan Mata sits fourth-placed on the club’s assist chart for last season with seven assists, with five of which came in the UEFA Europa League alone.

5. New signing Daniel James also enjoyed a productive campaign in terms of assist numbers. He finished with six assists, making him the fifth-highest assist contributor for the Reds.

Andreas Pereira, Fred and Aaron Wan-Bissaka also chipped in a fair number of assists during the course of the season. The trio finished with four assists, respectively.

Starman Paul Pogba failed to claim Manchester United’s season highest assist record for the first time in three years after he was sidelined for most of the season through injury.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer promising more attacking football, we can continue to expect more thrilling from the Red Devils next season.
