Manchester United winger Antony is presently under investigation following allegations of domestic violence made by his ex-wife Gabriela Cavallin.
According to a Brazilian publication, UOL, the legal delegates of Gabriela Cavallin, a well-known Disk Joker (DJ) and influencer who has since left the former Ajax player, are preparing to file a police report against the footballer in England where he’s currently staying.
Representatives of the Brazilian influencer, Gabriela in England have assembled a 70-page statement, which reportedly comprises information on abusive behavior and aggression by the Manchester United player.
However, according to Gabriela Cavallin’s lawyer, Vanessa Souza, Antony could potentially be arrested for three different crimes under English law.
Speaking to UOL, Souza said; “The sending of threatening messages, the fact that he locked her in the house and domestic violence with the displacement of the breast prosthesis and the injury to the fingers are actions classified as three different crimes in England”.
These statements include sending dreadful messages, restricting Cavallin in their occupancy, and actions of domestic violence that developed into physical traumas.
Gabriela Cavallin has reflected on her discomfort over the occurrences, repeating the shock she encountered during her moment with Antony.
The Brazilian influencer reported Antony to the police in Sao Paulo, Brazil, earlier in June 2023, charging him with making threats, domestic assault, and bodily harm.
She said; “Despite my efforts to move on, I still struggle with sleep and haven’t been able to work”.
The investigation is still going on in Brazil, and testimony from witnesses is being gathered.
Additionally, Cavallin had earlier asked for a restraining order against the 23-year-old football player.
She spoke about her experiences in an interview with TV Record, claiming that Antony had threatened to kill her and had beaten her with glass.
The plausible threat was slowing down, with Antony purportedly declaring; “If you’re not going to be with me, you’re not going to be with anyone else. It’s going to end up here for you. We’re going to die together now, me, you, and our son”.
Manchester United, who paid 87 million pounds to acquire Antony from Dutch club Ajax last summer, have declined to comment on the accusations, although it is believed that they are looking into the matter.
While the investigation is still underway, the case has attracted a lot of attention and serves as a reminder of how crucial it is to address and eradicate domestic abuse in all facets of society.
The development of the crisis will surely be closely watched by Manchester United and the larger football community.
What’s next for Antony?
The Brazilian winger will be part of Erik ten Hag’s squad that will travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing 2023/2024 English Premier League campaign on Saturday, 19th of August.
Meanwhile, if the allegations were true, Antony might see his time with Manchester United cut short just like in the case of Mason Greenwood of the same club.
