Nigeria and Manchester United loanee striker, Odion Ighalo has been given a choice to make over his future at Old Trafford. Ighalo whose loan deal with the Red Devils will expire on 31 May is looking forward to extending his stay in Old Trafford beyond May 2020.
According to a report by The Daily Star, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjær KSO is willing to offer the Nigerian player a contract extension if and only if he is willing to accept a pay cut. Odion Ighalo before his loan spell to Manchester United earns as much as £300k weekly in Shanghai Shenhua. Reasonably, he had to accept a pay cut of £100k to be in Manchester United as a loanee player. Also, the Chinese club is willing to do an upward review of his salary if he will accept to return to the club in May when his loan deal with Manchester United expired. Shanghai Shenhua is willing to offer the 30-year-old striker a whopping sum of £400k weekly to return to the club in May 2020 when his loan with the Red Devils expires.
Meanwhile, there have been speculations that Odion Ighalo would do anything and accept any condition to remain in Old Trafford the club which has been his dream for years. Ighalo’s signing for Manchester United came as a surprising event for millions of United fans all over the world. Many critics at that time stated that his recruitment has just shown how fallen the standard of the club is. Whereas, Ighalo proved them all wrong with an impressive start which saw him net four goals in eight appearances.
Reasonably, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to extend Ighalo’s stay if only he will accept a pay cut of about £100 weekly. The Nigerian player can decide to make a return to China where he would earn more and he can choose to stay in Old Trafford to live up his childhood dreams.
