Manchester United Target Antony has finally handed in a transfer request to Ajax as he pushes for a move to Old Trafford. The Ajax star is pushing earnestly for a move to Old Trafford as the transfer window winds down.
Manchester United have received a significant boost in their bid to sign Antony after the Brazilian star reportedly handed in a transfer request to Ajax. Antony has indicated his interest in forging a reunion with his former boss Erik Ten Hag.
Ajax are hesitant about letting Antony leave and are intent on keeping the player at the Dutch club. The Red Devils have submitted two bids which have been rejected by the club. Meanwhile, the situation is dicey as Old Trafford have seven days to push the deal through or risk it for the next transfer window.
After Ajax rejected a £72.3m, the second bid from the Old Trafford club, the Brazilian star has reportedly tried to force a move out of the club. He refused to join the team’s training session ahead of the clash with Sparta Rotterdam and was finally left out of the squad by Alfred Schreuder.
When asked whether he will commit his future to the Eredivisie champions, Antony candidly said no. He maintained that he wants to come to a decision that is beneficial to his career, business, and family.
The highly-rated forward still has three years remaining in his Ajax contract but wants to ignite the exit clause, which allows him to leave if the right offer is made. His representatives are currently in Manchester trying to smoothen up the deal.
Ajax have lost some players, including Erik Ten Hag, to Manchester United. They have sold Lisandro Martinez to the club and do not want to part ways with more players. The Dutch champions don’t want to sell Antony despite the huge offer by Manchester United.
Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo on a deal worth £14m, but Manchester United have offered a whooping £72.3m for the youngster. According to reports, Ajax are holding on for £84m, which Man United may likely meet as they search for more signings.
Erik Ten Hag has signed four players into Manchester United, consisting of two defenders and two midfielders. Antony may be Manchester United’s first forward if he joins from Ajax.
With the transfer window heading towards closure, the Red Devils are desperately chasing more additions into the squad. They are yet to land their first striker despite facing the prospects of Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit.
Manchester United awoke from a two-match slumber by putting up a strong performance against Liverpool. This does not rule out the need for more signings. Erik Ten Hag’s mission is far from being accomplished. Antony can be a great addition to the team.
