Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has admonished United’s squad ahead of the clash with Liverpool tonight. Manchester United will go head to head with Liverpool in a Premier League clash on the 22nd of August 2022 at Old Trafford.
Recall that United met a shameful defeat in their first Premier League game at Old Trafford against Brighton this season. The Red Devils also conceded four goals inside the opening 35 minutes of their second league game against Brentford at West London, being the first time in Premier League history.
David de Gea’s error allowed Josh Dasilva to open the scoring in the 10th minute before Mathias Jensen doubled the lead when he pounced on former Bee Christian Eriksen’s mistake, thereafter, Ben Mee headed a third for Brentford before Bryan Mbuemo put them 4-0 up after 35 minutes in the first half of the game.
Moreover, an unfriendly scenerio occured after the defeat as Cristiano Ronaldo furiously rushed off the field with great disappointment in the awful performance of the United team and refusing to acknowledge the fans who had traveled far to the Gtech Community Stadium. It’s quite obvious from their terrible performances since the league started that the Red devils are not having a good time as a team.
Currently, Manchester United occupy the last position in the premier league table as they rank 20th. It’s in lieu of this that Marcus Rashford, ahead of today’s clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford,
has urged United’s squad to come together and bounce back from their heavy defeat at Brentford with a victory over Liverpool to get their season back on track.
The England national team player, in his interview with Sky Sports said United can only be victorious against their arch-rival Liverpool in tonight’s match if the squad unites. Rashford said: “We have a chance to put it right and there’s no better game to do that than Liverpool at Old Trafford.
“If we can play well and get a result it will be positive for us and get us going for the season.”
When asked whether Manchester United have not always worked together in unity this season, the 27 year old United forward replied, saying: “In moments in the games, it’s not happened and we’ve paid the price.
“It’s something we need to do for as long as possible during 90 minutes. We understand in a 90-minute game it can bring you different challenges but as long as we’re all together I’m confident we can deal with whatever is thrown our way. The sooner we do that the better.
“For us it’s just about getting points on the board. We want to get going for the season and once we do that we’ll get a feel for winning again.”
As the two prestigious English clubs meet tonight; in a match renowned as one of the biggest rivalries in not only English football, but the entire world at large, it’s no doubt that the game between the two Premier League former champions will be a tough battle as both teams fight for their first win this season.
