It was not a good sight befitting of an elite Football Club as Manchester United on November 19, 2023 when the club’s women team hosted rivals Manchester City in Women Super League match.
Fans took to the Old Trafford stadium to watch the women’s Manchester Derby with high expectations.
The match witnessed a record turnout of football fans as the women’s game gradually gathers momentum among passionate English fans.
While the spectators got entertained with the five-star performance by the two teams, it wasn’t looking good for two fans at Block N2402.
X (formerly Twitter) user, Problemchild, revealed the ceiling at Old Trafford fell on two fans who were on the stands to watch the game.
“If you ever need further proof that Old Trafford is indeed Falling Down…Block N2402 ceiling parts fell on 2 supporters at the ladies’ game today.”
It is still unclear whether the victims suffered injuries as the ceiling broke down on them but it was apparently not looking good.
As much as it generated widespread reactions on social media, the falling ceiling is an inkling to the rot and degradation at Old Trafford under the watch of the Glazers.
Over the years, Manchester United fans have been protest the Glazers’ ownership of the club, asking them to leave due to the deplorable state of the club’s sporting infrastructure and the underwhelming performance on the field.
The American investors have been dragged by fans for parasitically feeding on the club with emphasis on commercial gains while the sporting aspect is in ruins.
We reported earlier the 78,000-capacity stadium is not included by the English FA among the stadiums to host 2028 Euros due the dilapidated structures.
United fans are optimistic Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s imminent co-ownership will help transform the fortunes of the club off and on the field. Sir Jim has already billions of pounds for renovation of the stadium when his bid is ratified.
