Manchester United have been lambasted for bearing the costs of a luxurious Wags day out.

The elaborate outing came about a day after the club informed staff that certain benefits from playing in the FA Cup final were being cut.

Manchester United staff have customarily been handed a free ticket along with free travel and food for the epic day at Wembley Stadium.

This includes a pre-match lunch, after-match party, and subsequent accommodation in London.

The INEOS group proceeded to halt the tradition last week, with staff now prohibited to only one ticket and having to part with £20 for a coach trip to London.

This is due to the club’s primary attention being fixated on spending money on getting the club back to its glory years.

To fuel the fire, neighbors Manchester City will offer all their staff a free ticket and free travel for the final, along with a plus one.

However, what has received heavy bashing in the wake of public knowledge is the fact that Manchester United paid for a swanky wags day out on Friday, April 26, 2024.

The Wags of Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw, Antony, Diogo Dalot, and Aaron Wan Bissaka, moved out to restaurant San Carlo, where items on the wine list can be about £450.

McTominay’s girlfriend, Cam Reading, alongside Anoushka Santos, Luke Shaw’s partner, was seen exiting the location with Harvey Nichols branded bags.

Dalot’s partner alongside Antony’s wife, amongst others were in attendance at the event

Diego Dalot’s partner, Claudia Pinto Lopes, Antony’s wife Roosee Xavier, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s girlfriend April Francis, were all in attendance at the event as well.

A United Staff member shared his thoughts on the day out during an interview with the Daily Mail, saying: “It’s a bit of a kick in the teeth.

“The trip to Wembley has been a tradition that staff have enjoyed for years and years.

“It’s like a thank you for the work that we do and it means that when the team does well we all get rewarded.

“Clearly they are cutting costs but to see that less than a day later the Wags are out on the town with the club paying the bill is a bit rich.”

Anyway, Manchester United have turned a blind eye to the criticism, as they feel their stance is on maintaining the happiness of players’ partners and families.

Several social events are held annually for players, their partners, and families, some of which are funded by Manchester United, who view the care of their players as their priority.

Moreover, Manchester United return to action on Monday, May 6, 2024, visiting Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace in a Matchday 36 Premier League action.

The Red Devils look to end a disastrous season on a high, having been informed in recent weeks that they will not be playing in the UEFA Champions League, following Aston Villa’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Erik Ten Hag’s side sit 6th on the log, with 54 points from 34 league matches, 6 points away from 5th-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have amassed 60 points from equal number of matches as Manchester United.
