Manchester United have been hit with a fresh Casemiro injury blow ahead their Premier League trip to Fulham.
United team news released ahead of the game confirms Casemiro has been ruled out of the game in what could be seen as a major setback to the team
Casemiro started the midweek Carabao Cup fixture against Newcastle United before being subbed off at the interval.
Erik ten Hag confirmed in post match press conference he substituted the Brazilian at the end of the first half because he picked up an injury.
ten Hag however refused to shed lights on Casemiro estimated timeline of return while adding it will take hours to gather more details on the injury but for the meantime, he has been ruled out of the game against Fulham.
“He was injured just before half time, that is why we have to take him off.”
“I can’t give an answer; we have to wait 24 hours, but I think definitely for Saturday he is out,” he said.
Casemiro missed Man United’s drubbing by cross-city rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford after he delayed his return from international duty with Brazil national team due to injury.
Erik ten Hag confirmed before the loss to City that Casemiro was racing against time to play in the match. He subsequently fell off but was able to return to action against the Magpies in midweek before being injured again.
His injury is a major setback to the squad that has been gutted with an injury crisis with key first team players down on the sidelines. Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, are all sidelined and will not be available against Fulham.
However, United have received injury boosts as well ahead of the game with the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Sergio Reguilon, and Amad Diallo all back to team.
