Manchester United managed to defeat Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday thanks to a late goal from Bruno Fernandes.
Erik ten Hag-led Manchester United visited Fulham at Craven Cottage as the Dutchman looked to rescue the Red Devils from their worst start in 61 years.
Ten Hag’s men dominated the entire game but Fulham had more shots in the game though most were off target.
United managed a total possession of 55% in the game while the home team only managed to amass 45% of possession.
The visitors had a total of 12 shots in the match with 5 on target as opposed 18 shots with two on target by the home team.
Erik ten Hag , who is under pressure at Manchester United, was keen on a big performance from his team in the Saturday’s game.
The team has lost two games in seven days and today’s meeting would’ve heaped the pressure on him, but Bruno Fernandes said not on his watch.
The Portugal international ensured United took all three points away at Fulham with a late goal for the visitors.
Ten Hag’s men had assumed they got in front in the first 10 minutes of the match but the goal was ruled out for offside by the VAR.
That ruled out goal was the best chance Manchester United had in the first half as they headed into the dressing room with a scoreless draw.
Fulham stepped up in the second half of the encounter with Manchester United and could have won the match in the second period.
However, it was the Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes who scored the goal for the visitors who couldn’t hold on to the end.
Erik ten Hag made some changes in the United squad after the Manchester City thrashing in the Manchester Derby.
Marcus Rashford did not feature in the match due to injury and Alejandro Garnacho replaced him in the lineup.
Antony and Sofyan Amrabat were also in the lineup as Fernandes made the difference for the almost-sinking Old Trafford side.
Despite the late win at Craven Cottage, Manchester United still remain eighth in the 2023/2024 Premier League table.
This season is one of the Red Devils worst as they have lost 5 matches in their opening 11 matches of the season and won just 6.
Erik ten Hag is looking to steer United out of their poor start and the win against Fulham will boost the squad as they prepare for other fixtures.
