According to reports, no negotiations are ongoing between Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain for Neymar Jr.
In spite of reports linking the 31-year-old to Old Trafford, recent information circulating indicates that no talks have commenced between the two parties.
Manchester United sources have refuted the news put out by the French media as there is nothing of such presently regarding Neymar Jr.
However, this is based on the standpoint of the current ownership and board, the Glazers, although there is a possibility that this stance could alter under new owners.
Neymar who is currently injured and out for the remainder of the season was reported to have attracted the attention of several English clubs including Newcastle United and Manchester United.
An information which earlier circulated put Manchester United in an advanced position to land the Brazilian.
The former Barcelona attacker who has faced intense criticisms from Paris Saint Germain fans has also previously expressed his interest in playing in the English top-flight league.
Recent reports also claim that Neymar’s Captain at Brazil, Casemiro is also pushing for his international team-mate to join him at Manchester United.
The news has received mixed reactions from supporters of the English giants across the world with some expressing their desire to see the Brazilian at Old Trafford while some feel he wouldn’t be a good buy.
Last summer, Neymar Jr received major interest from many notable clubs in Europe including Juventus and Chelsea.
But it is uncertain where his future lies in the upcoming summer as he still has a deal with the Parisians until 2025.
In April 2021, Neymar said he feels “at home” at PSG but possibly a timeframe of two years might have given him a new thought over his future.
Neymar Jr speaking to TNT Sports Brazil said: “I don’t think this is even a topic any more. I obviously feel very comfortable at home at PSG.”
Despite countering reports concerning the Brazilian moving to Old Trafford, German-based website Transfermkt has pegged the possibility of the deal at 45%.
Neymar joined Paris Saint Germain from Barcelona in 2017 for a world record and he is still the most expensive acquisition in football history at £198 million.
He has made 173 appearances for the French club scoring 118 goals and providing 77 assists.
Neymar Jr has also been reported to be involved in a seeming squabble with attacking partner Kylian Mbappe.
Paris Saint Germain are also looking to ship out several players in their squad, with Lionel Messi also expected to leave the club after the expiration of the season.
However, the father of Lionel Messi has come out to squash those reports saying no decision has been made on if he would remain or exit PSG this summer.
